Need to travel to the US and first time traveling since pandemic. Toddler tested positive for Covid a few weeks ago and she now is freaked everytime see sees something that looks like a q-tip when she did her antigen. Prefer not to go through that again.
We took her to SwissMediKids near HB for the PCR which was done via swab which was much better.
Now we need to take a test to show she's negative to fly. SwissMediKids does not do tests for travel and we need antigen because it's quicker and US requires the results within 1 day.
Where can I find a child-friendly antigen covid test that produces the results within the standard 30 mins, for travel?
The kids permanence in Stadelhofen does the travel tests (or at least did them until few months ago)
BTW - Swiss Medi Kids at HB are the one place who immediately send you with your results also a certificate whether you requested it or not... So even though they say they do not do it for travel, that has been my experience. However probably best not to count on it.
Swissmedikids does do tests for travel. We had one there before the holidays for the USA and their website says they still do them.
Sadly, the swab is the only way to have a quick test. A PCR can be done from the throat, but there is no one in town that will do that for you rapidly. I really searched for it myself but no luck.
What about saliva test when the kid had to gather the saliva and spit a few times without any solution to gargle? My son had this test once at the pediatrician.
My son (7) had to do it last week. The spitting is waaay more than a few times, as you need a good few ml of saliva. It took my son a good ten minutes to produce enough, and the kid before him took even longer. There’s no way a toddler could do it I think.
