Where to get heating patches for muscle pain?

One like this :

Is this considered as "over the counter" here ? Can I just go and buy it from the pharmacy ?

Is it also available at Coop/Migros ? I don't recall seeing it there though and how much would it cost?

Many thanks!

Hi nasa

You can get plasters in the chemist some are medicated and others are a natural remedy.

I used Flector EP for tennis elbow and other local aches and pains and have had good results. However when my tennis elbow refused to get better I needed a strong anti-inflammatory oral tablet but was also prescribed a relieving plaster that didn't interfere with the medication.

In German it's called "Capsicum N plus". It's chilly and wintergreen oil and it works a treat.

Neither of them come cheap so if you are in constant pain I'd advise you to see your doctor and get them on your insurance.

Get better soon.

Hi Oldhand,

Many thanks for the detailed information and for your wishes

You can get them over the counter from some pharmacies. The Sun Store pharmacy chain stocks them down here.

Update...

I just thought to share the information, in case someone would need it in the future (may all of you be in a good health).

So I found a heating patch in the pharmacy, its name is " Traumalix dolo- Thermo patch". A pack of five is for 15.70 CHF, its contains mainly wintergreen oil and capsicum, though the warming effect its produces-at least for me- was not as expected.

Thank you for the info - what do you mean it was not as expected though?

Hotter or not as hot as you'd hoped? Some odd sensation to it?

The cashier at Migros gave us samples of Axa Nova active gel yesterday. The same company makes heating and cooling patches that are sold at Migros, SportXX, and LeShop.ch.

A box of heating patches (power patch) has 7 patches for Sfr 14.80. A box of cooling patches has 5 patches for Sfr. 13.80.

Hmmm. They only show the cooling patches at LeShop . Maybe they're temporarily out of the heating patches.

Actually, not as hot as I hoped.
