Where To Get Married In Switzerland?

Hi everyone. I want to find out where do couples usually get married in Switzerland? Do the reception venues cost the same in big cities (Like Geneva and Zurich) or do you pay even more for a wedding in the Alps?

Anyone here that got married recently? And what venue did you choose and why?

All of them get married at the Standesamt. Church or whatever else you want to do is optional.

We organised a party for friends and family and rented this house in our neighbourhood http://www.qth.ch/raume/ had a caterer and lots of fun.

It's not very standardized here, everybody marries how they want to. No hordes of bridemaids though.

Ad many do not even have a photographer anymore. Our guests made pictures and sent them to us. My dad made some more formal ones. Cost us nothing and pics were great.

what about considering getting married in a Swiss castle? I believe almost all of them (those not in ruins of course) do this. I have gone to weddings at Nyon castle and Château de Chillon...one of those famous castles from calendars and chocolate wrappers situated literally on the waters of lake Léman.

Looking at his profile and other thread, it looks a bit more likely to me that he/she/they will be coming here on holiday to look around, maybe even with possible work in mind in the future.

I might be way off the mark though. It wouldn't be the first time!

But just in case you are really considering marriage here, the question is not 'where' but 'if'.

Check this site out for more or less official information on the subject. Getting married in Switzerland.

Nope, we got married in the town hall, by the mayor (who is a chicken farmer).

Reception at home.

We walked.

Tom

In south of Ticino maybe.

In the west, Vaud, particularly has some extra locations http://www.vd.ch/themes/vie-privee/e...particulieres/

additionaly the locations in towns itself are also at nice places and not allways in the town hall

The city of Zurich has not only its nice room in the city hall but additionally offers marriages in the zoo, a guild hall, and a old wine cellar.

Wallis has also some nice locations:

Kloten does marriages in the old tower of the Airport.

Pictures of that place and some other locations (some town halls) around Switzerland can be found at:

Be aware that some locations just offer space for Bride, Groom, the two witnesses, and close family members/friends.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Will go and check out the links provided. Much easier to ask locals - one can't really get this info on Google (well ... sure ... but locals know best!).

We got married here:

Chateau de Glérolles

They sell their own wine, which was nice.
