Where to get my Macbook Pro??

My apple crashed on me...it's time to look for one as the HD will probably fail soon.

Any idea or tip where would be the best place to get a new Apple?...considering customer service and and and and...

I am sobbing through the loss of my faithful friend...

Can't you just change the HD if that is the only problem? www.Dataquest.ch for Apple products.

The cheapest way is to go to Manor and get a membership card which gives you 10% discount if buy on the same day and they are a little cheaper then the Apple shop opposite the main station good luck

Mediamarkt has Apple, and there are a lot of smaller stores selling over the internet (f.x. on riccardo.ch). Electronic stuff is cheaper in Switzerland than neighbouring countries. Not familiar with England, but Google is your friend, and my best bet is it is cheapest here in Switzerland.

I bought mine at Dataquest.ch in Zug. They are super friendly and the service is great.

I have made excellent service experiences at the Zurich Dataquests and Tomac .

Find someone you know in the states, save about 20% and get smuggling.

Basic model will save you 500ch

Hi,

I just ordered a MacBook Pro 17" via www.netto24.ch and saved around CHF200.00.

To compare prices within CH I always use www.toppreise.ch .

Cheers,

do yourself a favor and buy from a brick-and-mortar store like Dataquest, Letec, Digitec etc. Unfortunately, Apple still hasn't been able to get its act together in terms of quality control within the production process. We buy many different brands of computers where I work and no other company delivers as many DoA devices as Apple - with the Macbook Pro being the sad forerunner.

We used to buy directly from Apple through their online-store but have recently reverted to purchasing all equipment from local vendors - mainly because it's so much easier to get DoA cases returned/exchanged.

ps: the MBPs are great machines once you get one that works :-) I love mine

I got mine from Manor, as an ex demo.

The HD failed on it and I had to take it back for repair, Manor took it back after asking me a few basic questions (tried turning it off and on again?), got it back in a couple of weeks with a new HD under warranty, no cost to me.

I recently upgraded the HD myself, just popped down to my local Conrad shop and picked one up there. You don't need to bother with an apple shop for that.

Make sure you upgrade to leopard and actually use time machine. In the event of a hard drive failure, you can simply upload the whole operating system onto a new drive.

After first HD failure, I upgraded straight away. Made replacing the HD a breeze, everything was restored exactly as it was before.

thanks for all your suggestions...

I would like to get a new apple because the one which crashed on me is some years old now...

I will look into the different channels...I like the idea of manor....friendly after-sales service right?

Goto Apple store in Zurich.

All the same, they will refer you to Apple store/service center if your new laptop fails too.

where is that?

Would it be Data-Quest? I had some bad experience there with the staff...

Is that a good reason to avoid them?

Digitec.ch?

pickup is possible, but not sure if they have macs.

Try toppreise.ch.

Many vendors there.

Anyway for a mac, little savings or discounts.

Unless you buy from US.

But then there is the waranty thing.

Goo dluck.

Why mac? I have one for 1 year now, did not impress me much.

Yes OS is good, but my experience with WinXP is also good.

Other windows laptops are now so cheap and sleek too.

okok, lets not start.

I am using my macbook right now...

Just to avoid misunderstandings, Apple's own flagship store at Bahnhofstrasse hasn't opened yet.

A good reseller will give you advice or hints that Apple can't or would not, and I think that repairs are more convenient through a shop than online. Isn't it actually a good thing that the reseller ships most hardware to Apple repair centers?

Perhaps we were lucky but got a 3 months old one on Ricardo for 700chf

I've had very good experiences with Dataquest in ZH, so I can recommend them. Sorry that your Mac is not well, and good luck

Still cheaper, and what's wrong with a US keyboard?
