Where to go around Lake Brienz to have the best view?

Hi,

There are many astonishing photos of lake Brienz and its views around, examples being these two:

However, the lake is too big ( ) and one doesn't really know the exact spot where such views can be observed.

Does anyone know some good locations (up to 4 decimal GPS points ), where great views, and ideall a coffee, can be enjoyed around lake Brienz or areas close to it? We are driving there this weekend.

Thanks

Best

We visited The Grandhotel Giessbach last spring and had a delicious lunch on the terrace which had incredible views of Lake Brienz. There is also a great hike from the hotel featuring waterfalls and outstanding views. I highly recommend

Go to Brienz. Take the Brienz Rothorn train up to the Rothorn. There are a couple of stops on the way if you feel like hiking for portions of it. Normally, you should see some Steinbocks up on the Rothorn up close. The views are great for pretty much the entire journey. Plenty of lakeside restaurants in Brienz for coffee/lunch etc.,...

All excellent ideas. I really enjoyed Schynige Platte as well. You take the train up and have fantastic views of both Berner Oberland and the lake.

Second vote for Giessbach (owned by Franz Weber foundation) take a suite you have fabulous vies of the lake and the waterfalls from your terrace.

Expensive, but you can't take it with you either.....

That's great, but we need train tickets which are expensive for our guests (60 CHF without Half-fare). There no way around that with a city car, no?

Hiking boots

You could always ask Trauffer

We went the inexpensive route, and had a hike and then the lunch but did not stay

The staff and food were amazing though!
