Where to park my car with small trailer in Basel

Hi all, many thanks that this page exist. Is is being very helpful for me in last days.

I am coming to Basel on Monday morning with my girlfriend and staying at least for one year. Exiting

I am moving some stuff from Slovakia and I am coming to Basel with trailer . We are coming from Germany and staying in German part of Basel near Johanniterbrucke, so I expect not paying any duty for my bike.

Anyway, my girlfriend's father is driving a car with trailer and he will need to park it somewhere around for couple of days (2-4). Do you guys have any idea where we can quietly do that? I expect to be hard parking it around our apartment. We are not paying rent for parking place. I do not know if we can leave it on the street (then it takes almost 2 parking places) or somewhere else (train station, big stores...). no idea.

thanks in advance

martin

Welcome to the forum, and vitajte v Bazileji!

You might find this website useful, which lists all the main car parks in Basel.

The City-USB car park is very near Johanniterbrücke, but it's not cheap (25 CHF/day) and I don't know if they have any specific facilities for trailers. Parking on the street may be difficult, however, as there are very few spaces for people without permits.

It might also be worth asking your new employer if it could be left at your workplace, and use the public transport to get back to Johanniterbrücke instead - they can often make allowances if you're just arriving from abroad.

thanks for advice, I will try to contact my employer, but I think it will be difficult, because it is just an internship. lets see.

I find out one autocamping in Lorrach, so that could be worst alternative. For us it could be OK to have a car up to 10 km, if we can reach Basel centre easily.

I think you are saying you want to park the trailer on the German side?

German supermarkets near the border include:

Aldi sued at Grenzach Wyhlen. or further out is Hiebers supermarket.

just look for a white lined parking zone, you will be fine for a day or 2.

There is a normally spaces at the parking area on ERDBEERGRABEN.
