Where to shop in Baar or Zug?

So I'm finally arriving in Baar on Friday evening. My apartment is mostly furnished but I'm going to need to buy some household items, especially an iron and an ironing board. Normally I'd just walk around to figure out where to go, but since I'll only have saturday to gather the things I'll need (I hear that most stores are closed sunday), I figure it would be good to get some intel right now to make the most out of my day.

Hi Scrambled,

you might consider going to Metalli Shopping Mall in Zug. Not too big unfortunately, but I guess you can find most of the items you need. BTW on Thursday it is open till 9 pm.

If you want a bigger shopping mall you can go to Emmenbrücke to the "Emmencenter".

Welcome in Kanton Zug

Hi,

take a look at the following website http://www.zug4you.ch/shopping_centers.html

There are a few other shops in the town center, Manor, Coop, which is your best bet to find an iron etc.,

If you need any help just pm me.

If you have a car, Zugerland is not a bad option. They have a big Migros which has most of the household stuff you may need.

Migros (in the Metalli) has a large selection of household items and is likely cheaper than Coop, Manor, etc.

Good luck and welcome to Zug

Welcome to EF and the Zug area.

http://www.fust.ch/ They also have a store above the Co-op in Zug and on the main road heading into Zug from Baar.

Most other places have been mentioned.

thanks. one of the things i must buy immediately is a plug adapter for my laptop. this old battery only will last me 2 hours...

You can get a plug adapter at the airport; not sure if such things can be found locally easily; at least inexpensive ones.

In the Dorfstrasse there is a hardware store but its expensive, the Coop in Baar will have an iron but I'm not sure on the board.

Zug is a much better alternative with either Interdiscount or Coop city in the centre your best choices.

Welcome to Zug and the backward shopping laws of Switzerland

Try from Interdiscount in Metalli Zug , plug adapter(international) costs around 40 chf. I find zugerland best for house hold goods. Cheers and Welcome.

Just noticed that there are lots of EF users in the Zug area. Shouldn't we consider to meet one day?

Sorry for offtopic

Yes, Interdiscount is probably the cheapest.
