I am thinking to join an annual gym membership. Either Silhouette or migros fitness park. Anyone going there? What do u think?
Fitness Park has a membership where you can go to all of them in
Switzerland. It costs more of course.
Well if you ask "Which gym you going to?" then the answer from lots will mostly be Migros Fitness Park as it's pretty darn packed every minute of the day.
That said....I go there too
If you don't mind crowds or waiting for a bench or particular weights then it's pretty good. They have a deal at the moment, 5 months for 550 CHF
I go to Flower Power but my membership is through the Migros Intercity card. It's great. It costs 1400 chf/ year which is 200 more than the yearly single location membership for FP.
I can go to the one in my town or the one by my work. I've also been to some of the Migros fitness Parks further afield when weekending away.
It also gives me free access to the various Migros water parks like Bernaqua... which is nice when you've got guests visiting.
@Zenagent, I am afraid Flower Power too far away for me.
@wheatism, I think Fitness Park's membership is not cheap, it is surprised that many people there. I am thinking to go to the one in Old town.
Check out the link for Migros pricing and all of the diffent fitness parks that accept the InterCity Card
here .
I use the Flower Power as it's closest to me, but there may be other gyms near you.
Hi, I go to Active Fitness, I paid 600.- for the year as it was the cheapest and most "correcte" in my mind. Membership allows you use of any of their gym locations, + they don't charge that common 1 off 1st time application/admin fee that other gyms seem to like to do. They are the cheapest but do not offer a "fruit bar", swimming pool or massage services. Included in the yearly fee at no extra cost are pilates, yoga, zumba, spinning classes and more. 1 on 1 personalised exercise planning with a trained instructor, sauna, hammam and child care.
If you are looking for all the frills and pampering at a higher cost, then look into Holmes Place.
Thanks for the Active Fitness tip - that's definitely a great deal.
Is it usually quite crowded?
I go to Outside World
They offer Walking, Hiking, Running, Biking, Mountain Biking, Swimming, Climbing, and many other activites.
Available all over Switzerland
Open all hours.
Membership fees: 0.00 CHF
You can cancel your membership at any time.
Hi, no it is not, I use the Nyon and Lausanne (TheĢatre) gyms, they both have enough of every piece of important equipment so as never needing to wait. I usually go mid-morning and leave as the lunch break gangs arrive.
My only complaint is they seem to prefer showing the French music channel MCM all the time, 'cos it's not the music genre I like to listen to...and they don't offer free wifi to members to allow you to listen to Spotify, so advisable to take your own music with you.
If you have optional health insurance on top of the mandatory insurance, consider checking whether your insurance company covers part of the cost of gym memberships and which gyms are eligible. Could make sense to go with a gym which partners with your health insurance provider.
Some of the health insurance companies which cover gym memberships are listed here:

I hate the gym especially the big chain ones.
I never use to exercise until one day my wife made go to a free Zumba class. Loved it and now I go regulary even with out my wife. http://bigmove.ch/
They also offered Functional Training at the Martial Arts School across the road. A proper old school boxing style gym. I now go there twice a week.

I now have lots of lady friends from Zumba and can box my way out of trouble.
Have you heard of Evo Fitness? They are from Germany (I believe) and have been expanding in Switzerland. What I like about them is that there is no contract, you simply pay monthly and can cancel anytime. There's an initial one-off charge of CHF 60-70ish - can't quite remember. Their monthly fee is also very reasonable for Switzerland and you have access to all their gyms (ok, nowhere near as many as Migros Fitnesspark).
I don't think any of the chains otherwise do gym membership without contracts
Sounds interesting, especially the no contract you claim, however....
...what are you cancelling in this case?
Great...and is it so reasonably priced that you wish to keep it a secret??
Obviously you're cancelling the membership... month to month membership so you still have to cancel if you don't want it anymore, but it's not like a 12mo or 24mo contract that tend to renew for another 12/24mo!!
They have different prices/promotions for different locations... I'm not going to research and post all prices here. It's easiest for a google search and look up the deals for the location one is interested in, instead of posting a price and potentially mislead others on EF
