Which TV service gets most English Premier League?

I'll be subscribing to some TV service in February, and am thinking of the Cablecom 3-for-2 deal. But ultimately, i want the service which will get me the most EPL games, and hopefully some Champion's League games too.

I'm not sure that Sky is an option really?

Thanks!

The teleclub sports package shows Premier league games live. I think they show the Sunday games the same as the UK and they definitely show Monday night games.

The good news is that the feed is from Sky Germany and you can even set the commentary to English and get Andy Gray's dulcit bitter blue nose Man Utd loving tones.

The bad news is it isn't HD and it isn't cheap. From memory you have to pay another 50-60 CHF on top of your Cablecom subscription.

Rumour has it though if you pay 500 for a dreambox you need never pay a subscription again.

Have you considered using the internet? I have my tower attached to my TV and use a site called Liveonlinefooty. It cost me about 50 CHF for the year. I am very pleased with it.

Yeah Ive been here. Swisscom's TV service (newly rebranded and no longer Bluewin, though I cant be arsed to find out its new name) has a sports package that requires the teleclub package. Not cheap, at least another 50CHF per month on top of the internet, tv service price and phone line rental.

I decided against the sports and teleclub package as I was holding out for Swisscom's 'promise' that EPL was going Pay Per View (PPV) as of Sept. That turned out to be utter rubbish or the deal fell through, though I did do a search and there were rumours on the internet. Anyway I now watch it through live streaming sites for free. PM if you are interested.

Most champions league games are on the channels that come with the basic subscription (ie french, spanish channels etc) and if they are not then you can PPV using SwisscomTV, about 2.5CHF/game.

You need cable, either Cablecom or Swisscom, then order the Teleclub package that includes Sport. The Teleclub will set you back 49 Francs a month and you need to order at least one year.

I can't comment on Swisscom version of Teleclub with their PPV. With Cablecom you get Teleclub 1 to 3. On Saturday afternoons you get the 12noon game (if there is one) plus a 3pm kickoff and the evening game. On Sunday you'll get the 4pm game plus usually the early game, if there is one, and the Monday evening game. All of these games have the option to listen in English. You'll get excellent coverage of the Champions League, but not in English if that concerns you.

Sometimes you will get all these games, however I have noticed that sometimes you will only get one or two full games over a weekend as they seem to be giving preference to the german games.

So if there are german/swiss games and ice hockey you might find you dont get much EPL over a weekend.

You do get spanish football too sometimes with english commentary.

The answer today is this - Teleclub Satellit subscription. Second option is Sky Italia.

Teleclub Sport 1 2 and 3 are not carrying as much EPL now.

There was some rumour that Sky DE (so effectively Teleclub CH) were going to show less EPL....that has not come true in my opinion other than on Teleclub Kabel.

Rumour has i that you only need to pay 500 if you want the HD channels... if you just want everythng else in non-HD then a 220CHF Dreambox DM500 C will be fine.

But dont you need a mod or special fix? Also rumour has it that various operators are phasing out the signal that it taps into, new encryption or something like that - depends where you live. rumours only though guys.

If Cablecom ever leaves Nagravision 2 (and they will, they have to at some point) then Dreambox will most likely become useless on the Cable TV network.

I do think there is some discussion on opening up the restriction on what box you can use - so it might be then that you can use the Cablecom card in your DM so that it does not become an expensive paperweight

Swisscom's Teleclub Sports have not failed me so far. The games that I am keen to watch are usually on and have yet to run to a pub so far to catch it on Sky. Even Champions League, La Liga and Seria A..

Well, obviously it doesn't give free cable out of the box, or they wouldn't be allowed to be sold at legitimate retailers.

Aas for Nagra 2 going the way of the dinosaur... not for a while yet I think?

Man, paying an additional 50-60CHF/month to get premier league is pretty damned expensive, and not even in HD?! Crap.

I was thinking that cable+internet was going to be much cheaper than here in the US, but apparently not once i add all the optionals to more appropriately match the two levels of service against each-other. In the end, i think Swiss connectivity+TV will end up costing me *more*...

Not to mention all the extraneous hook-up charges and other goodies...

Oh well, c'est la vie! Maybe i'll find a good pub for premier-league games.

How about a channel that carries the Premier League Review Show? That has good 5-10 minute segments for each game of the weekend, with running commentary snippets and all goal/save highlights. That could keep me happy enough, with online/streamed games occasionally too?

B.

Match of the Day on BBC One. Available on Swisscom TV and Cablecom

Get Swisscom TV basic, 20CHF per month, plus the line rental $25/month. I assume you've already paying for internet (say $49/month). Its not cheap but its not too bad. And yeah BBC1 has all the highlights Sat/Sun/Wed nights on Match of the Day, most comprehensive summary on earth.

Swisscom TV is indeed the best choice for international soccer in Switzerland IF you re not able to set up a satellite dish.

I have a BSky HD service with a full package though and they offer a great HD service. Its not that cheap either ...

I would actually say Swisscom TV is better than Sky's offering; Swisscom offer the 3pm Saturday games which Sky can't.
