Seems a bit strange as I read up on the rules changing in 2021 etc.
I am certainly old enough not to be age limited, I moved from a UK driving license etc.
My card says category B with no restrictions but my A1 has under point 12 (Zusatzangaben) 45kmh.
This basically makes it worthless and I cannot even get a 50cc moped???
Any help would be appreciated. Is it legit or a mistake?
Mine is also. And there are plenty of 50cc mopeds that are limited to 45kph. However, to ride a bigger bike (up to 125cc), all you do is get a provisional license for that and do a course. On completion the course, you get a full A1.
Swiss A1 (45 km/h) == UK AM.
Did you had anything better than AM on your original UK license? (UK Cat P might also be converted to Swiss A1 (45 km/h) )
Did you tick the A1 box on the exchange form? If you did not tick the box you voluntarily forgo the A1 category.
When I exchanged my license all the forms were done by the lady behind the counter, I just provided my eye test etc...
Guess that means I have forgone my motorcycle entitlement.....ah well.
She gave you the form, you went with the form to an eye wear shop, you signed the form, you had the form for at least 30 minutes, and you had the duty to check that everything is correct.
Do you still have a copy of old licence? Just go and explain and get them to update it. Happened with husband and the truck licence for Germany. It was 20 yrs ago but they corrected their mistake.
When I exchanged mine they asked me more than once if I really wanted to forfeit the truck driving part of my German licence.
Since I didn’t even know I had it and had no intention of ever driving a truck I confirmed that I was happy to lose it.
OP are you sure you had it there in the first place?
The authorities who changed your old license for a new one keep a copy of your old one in their records, just go ask them
For us it turned out to be useful to drive campervans >3.5t We were never asked, they just "forgot it" but then it was sorted.
