Wild mushrooms where to sell

Hi

I’m new to Zürich, been indulging myself in mushroom hunting and enjoying the nature! I have found plenty of wild mushrooms in forest around Zürich,Zug, Gotthard ( yes I did become mushroom crazy). Do you guys know of any restaurants or chefs that’s would be interested in purchasing my finds? Is this a thing in Switzerland? I have always been doing it as a hobby back in UK, so been wondering if I could do the same thing here & get to eat amazing mushroom dishes!

any returning customers?

Luckily most cantons offer free mushroom checks

For Zurich https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/gud/de/...kontrolle.html

Varieties?

Tom

I assume you know the law and have not been collecting them during 1. to 10. each month (for Zurich)?

The cantonal laws are summarised here:

https://www.vapko.ch/de/oekologie/ka...elbestimmungen

Umm, that is when you are NOT allowed to pick them.

Tom

be careful it's not always allowed to pick mushrooms. And there are restrictions about the amount you are allowed to hunt/pick. Every canton has its own rules.

See here for Graubünden as an example https://www.gr.ch/DE/institutionen/v...n/default.aspx and here for Zurich https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/gud/de/...kontrolle.html

make sure you know the rules it will be expensive otherwise if caught!

I may know a couple of guys with an interest in magic mushrooms for purely scientific reasons. How much do you have anyway?

You are not allowed to collect more than 1kg of mushrooms in ZH per day and not allowed to collect any mushrooms the first 10 days of a month.

On a more serious note: hopefully, you are aware of the cantonal rules and regulations .

Local market places may be of use for selling the mushrooms, but I haven't seen people doing that here in a long time. There are small businesses selling mushrooms in large volumes there, so they may be interested in buying from you at a bulk price (theoretically).

For more information on mushrooms in Switzerland I would recommend to go to VAPKO website .

Also, make sure to be familiar with Federal mushrooms regulations .

They are offering free vaccination as well, but not everyone are using it, because they believe, that they know better.

You found plenty of mushrooms because most people leave them alone in nature....

In Australia we say 'take photos, leave footprints'....

Guys I’m talking about wild mushrooms, like chicken of the woods. I have found a lot in Zug, originally been looking for Morel mushrooms. So far found around 30 different places to find them aroun Zürich, and few more around Zug. I am taking those to get identified even if I’m sure of what they are.

Been told selling found mushrooms is illegal... ? Maybe I should be clearer on what mushrooms I am talking about. Thanks

Always and only foraging species easy to identify, which I will double check with local authorities. Example Chicken of the woods, Morel etc.

Most do but plenty of people pick them. Ironically, it's the tramping around leaving footprints that causes more damage than the picking of them.

Anyway if anyone would like some free chicken on the woods, please let me know. Happy to share this delicious mushroom!

Have you ask a restaurant (a small one). If they are not interested, they may know some or the rules.

We are in Switzerland, not Australia, so no, most people pick them, as we do.

Tom

You don't see anyone picking mushrooms in Sydney CBD.

[QUOTE=starDeMer;3310512]Have you ask a restaurant (a small one).

Thank you for your reply, I have not messaged or asked any small restaurants. I will start on my research on whom to approach. I think it’s easier if I’ll just stick to my mushroom search and get better at cooking if found.

[QUOTE=Agapilhar;3310517] Why are you picking more than you actually need? Just pick enough for yourself and leave for others, there is no need to take so much that you risk wasting them unless you can give or sell them to others. That's just greed.

I did not pick more than I needed, I’m simply asking a question. I know few people mushroom hunting as a full time job, and I’m purely interested how is it in Switzerland And yes, I’m happy to share my mushrooms not information on their location.

And don ́t forget that Wildpilze are still highly radioactive thanks to Chernobyl.
