Hi,
There is a spot/stain on my windscreen which I suspect may be a chip or something. However my car recently went for MFK and passed, despite the spot being there before MFK (a local garage inspected the car beforehand and took it to MFK for me).
Now, does the MFK approval mean that I do not need to worry about my windscreen anymore? What is law regarding thst, if anything specific? Will there be a fine, or I will smply get a notice to repair it soon?
Thanks
It depends on exactly where the chip is, they have a template to see if a chip can affect your sight, if the chip is outside then you are good to go, if it is inside then, nope! It is why these Car glass adverts never tell you that they are limited to what they can repair and what not.
Even it the MFK ignored it you should not as it can expand and explode, especially in winter when you scratch the ice off the screen or pour water on it.
If the MFK approved it then game over, forget it.
Yes, but no
If the crack is outside the common line of sight of driver and more than 5-6 cm from the border it's OK. But, it's recommended to apply glue for glass to prevent the small crack from becoming a windscreen wide fracture. It's a ~10 franc glue, worth its price.
