Winter dizzy spells ?

I would like to know if there are people out there that are experiencing vertigo / light lightheadedness or dizzyness. I am experiencing this for a month now, and it seems among other things could be related to the weather. Anyone experienced this, or is it just me?

Now it's getting colder, your body needs extra energy to maintain core temperature, as well as everything else you need energy (calories) for, on a daily basis.

If you are of slight build and/or are consuming insufficient calories in your diet , and/or an imbalanced diet across the different food groups, this could be partly the cause.

Insufficient liquid intake (especially, just water) could be another.

Low blood pressure, also.

Less likely, but change in air pressure may also be a factor.

The obvious advice is to consult your doctor.

have you come off from some medication like Asprin? that could be a reason

I was also thinking dehydration. It's easy to become so.

No, I am not on medications, at least not when it started. This is too aweful. I can't even go outside now or take a shower for fear of falling down. Seriously.

I went to a see a doctor about 3 weeks ago, gave me some pills but didn't work for long.

I just hoped this was common thing related to cold and not something serious.

Change your doctor.

If you really are literally falling over then at least see another doctor. A bit of dizziness is one thing, falling over is a mistake by your brain and you should get a second opinion.

No I haven't fell. I just get a very strong sensation that I definitely will. Doc said, I have vestibular neuritis, which seems to correlate with the symptom. I have no pain, or nausea. Just extreme dizziness/vertigo.

This is not weather related. You most likely have a virus.

I had labyrinthitis in May. It came on suddenly and was so severe that I could not stand or walk on my own. It took 9 weeks for the symptoms to clear up although the very severe symptoms when I was bed bound lasted about 10 days. The symptoms were "simply" extreme vertigo, also my eyes kept tracking to one side (forget what this is called) and vomiting if I did so much as move my head.

As its caused by a virus there is little to be done although you can get tablets to lessen the vertigo sensation - I wasn't sure these made any difference.

I hope you are not on your own Vribium. But if so, please keep a phone by you at all times. I fell a few times (ok pretty constantly) during this period, including quite a spectacular one right at the beginning when I bruised my ribs and shoulder and was covered in black bruises for weeks, which just added to the general unpleasantness. Don't be proud. Crawl to the toilet (less far to fall) and go without your shower until you manage (sitting on a stool in the shower cubicle).

It is a horrible condition and I do hope you are feeling better soon. The only other treatment is vestibular reeducation at the physio - this is cetainly likely to make you feel worse in the very short term. Panic also exacerbates the symptoms and anxiety and panic attacks are a very common side effect of this condition.

Dizzyness for a month ? October and even November have been fairly mild this year. So that suffering for a month means that you have to consult a doctor

I occasionally get that. I used to get it more often, but it's declined over the years. It's like a wave breaking over my head. Sometimes couldn't really stand up. After less than half an hour, the nausea declined and I just felt light headed - like being a little drunk, but without the pleasant feelings. The various doctors said the most likely cause is the common cold, with the virus setting up home in my inner ear. Labyrinthitis. One diagnosed me as I walked from the door of her office to the patient seat! They tried me on some stuff that increases blood flow around the ear (incidentally also an anti-psychotic), but it didn't really work. The good news is, attacks decreased in frequency and intensity. Can't remember the last one.

I used to drink alcohol once the nausea declined to kind of offset the lightheadedness.

Is there a test that can show you have this thing? Or the Dr asks you what is the problem?

I remember I heard about it some years ago and it seems it starts with anxiety like symptoms which I had for the past 2 weeks in the night. Very scary and without a reason. Last night it happened again.

And yesterday and this morning I felt ''drunk like'' eventhough I don't drink. Have been having Nausea and severe diziness that I fell on my knees. Ooops. I needed few mins to put myself together.

I am feeling a bit better know but my head is spinning as I write and if I move it I feel like I have to throw up.

I was thinking first it is low blood pressure as I have this in the night. But the nausea is driving me crazy. I am trying not to get affected by this as I have a lot of stuffs to do today but I will definitely keep an eye on it and take a shot of ACV with water for the nausea.

And dizzy spells could also be because of dehydration and changes in air pressure or season changing. Of course, unless it could be a medical condition and you have to go to the Dr.

I am often dehydrated because I don't like water, I could go for 4 days without water...Don't do this...

Well, my aunt Gertrude in Marshall Texas got such trouble in about 1959/50 and it turned out to be a brain tumor, and she finally passed away in about 1964/65 . Brain Tumors are still a serious matter but most can be cured now

On the other hand I had such symptoms as the OP described about 10 years ago, and it turned out I had a big plug of earwax in an ear that was putting pressure on my inner ear and eardrum. The ENT specialist removed it and all my symptoms were gone.

That was my initial fear: brain tumor or some chronic vertigo related illness. I will do a second checkup next week. Hope this won't be serious.

imo this could be it also. I have nothing except the vertigo/dizzyness. As far as I have read about these symptoms, I have learned they are quite commonly mis diagnosed all the time. Maybe I will bring to light your story next time I see a doctor

You would be somewhat aware of that wouldn't you? After all, a plug in your ear would impair your hearing quite a bit, maybe even kill it on one side altogether. So if you held your phone to the plugged ear you wouldn't hear much, if anything at all.

Its caused by increased chem trail spraying.

Surprisingly, I wasn't aware of a hear loss, no. I was referred to the ENT to find the cause of my vertigo, and he removed the wax plug to see my eardrum better. And all my symptoms disappeared after that as we were ready to try some pretty heavy medication, it was quite a relief that the cause was accidentally found!

Could it be something very simple like sinus trouble? I don't almost fall over or anything but I've had sinus trouble for years. Sometimes sitting/standing/walking I suddenly feel like a change of pressure in the head or a pop followed by ringing in the head, often this comes with nausea and dizziness. Takes a little while to return to normal.

I've tried everything from drinks to sprays to tablets to shooting water up one nostril and down the other to ear syringing.. Nothing works, have given up trying.

We can all learn something from the past. Especially from Wolli's Auntie Gertrude.
