I have a wheelchair that i use and was wondering whether it would be safer to use all season tires on it as this will be cheaper than having to buy 2 sets of tires. I understand that all season tires are neither good for winter or summer conditions but are a compromise for all seasons so i'll never have the best whatever season i drive in, but i do like to dream.
I also understand that by buying 2 sets of tires, they will last twice as long as all season tires so actually they don't really cost anything at all and that if i really dream hard, i may get a second set of rims to mount the second set of tires on so it will be less than an hour to change from summer to winter tires, twice per year at minimal cost.
I also think it may be far safer for me, who does lots of driving at all levels at at all seasons to have proper tires for the appropriate season.
But do you think it will be necessary to mount winter/summer tires on the front of my wheelchair and will i be safe just using some compromise solution of all season tires, whatever they maybe, and hoping all will be as fine as having the proper tires on, in view I am often driving to Wallis, Ticino or Graubunden at all times of the year and I am also an active driver who loves to push it in corners
put summers on the rear, and winters on the front, best of all worlds.
if you want to be extra safe stick the winters on the back and the summers on the front in winter, in really heavy snow stick a winter and summer on the front and a winter and summer on the rear, make sure they are on different sides, so a winter on the rear left and front right, and slight reduce the pressures on the summers at the same time
Job done
* This is a joke - but there is a muppet on one of the car forums I'm on who did exactly this, winters on the front and summers on the rear, he of course crashed it at the first corner he came to in the snow.
Is this an electric wheel chair? For snow my friends say the Quickie have the best traction, some others believe it is the Turbo-Twist is much better (But that is also the same quy who strongly believed in EVZ winning the champion ship, sorry Tinu you were wrong ).
But it also heavily depends if you use your chair also for hockey or if you have a special hockey chair for that:
Winter rubbers are not good on warm gym hall floor.
