My partner could be offered a job in Hinwell and if we move out there we also want to be near Zurich for best english speaking nurseries etc - we currently live in UK. Any ideas of a good in between with good transport links? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

my husband works in Hinwil and we live in Wetzikon - 15 min by bike to his office (or 3 min by train, or 5 min by car), 20 min by train to Zurich, 6 min by train to Uster. Wetzikon has also english speaking doctors and nurses.
and there is an english pre-school in Seegraeben (5 min by car)
+ lots of nature around for hiking, cycling, etc.

So your husband works in Hinwil! He doesnt happen to work at BMW Sauber does he?! That is where my partner will hopefully be getting a job - hopefully I say as it has not been confirmed as yet - have a feeling it could be in the bad though! Fingers crossed.
We are not married but have one child who is 9 months so I am also looking into visas/permits etc. Where you live sounds great - just what we are looking for!

In fact he does work for BMW Sauber. We moved from the UK about a year ago with a year-old son. There are quite a few people from the UK in Sauber, so your partner won't feel lonely!

Can I just ask how you are finding living in Switzerland with your little boy. Do you work or or you a stay at home mum? I am really hoping that my partner is going to get this job. It is looking good so far - he has had telephone interview and it went very well and he is probably going to be flying out to meet up.

I think there are a few English playgroups around Hinwil area so I would not worry to much about that. Finding good property to rent around Hinwil is not so easy because of the influx of not only English but other nationalities that have also arrived lately. where to live all depends on balancing the tax over rent, if you live out in SG then the rent is cheap but higher taxing but with the extension of the A53 Autobahn you can live right down in Glarner land and get to work in half an hour. If your partner does get a offer im sure you can get contact information from other English employees in the department that they will be working, then hopefully get advice that could save a lot of agro.
Just one word of advice don’t believe everything you are told check it out.
