Working and living in Solothurn

Dear Experienced Expats,

My company is asking me to move me with my family to Solothurn. We are english speakers. I read the comments in this forum and found that people seems unfriendly in Solothurn. Please suggest me where I should live if my working location is somewhere in Solothurn.

I would appreciate if someone can suggest me about relocaiton company as well. :-)

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Imran Khan

You'll probably need to live in the same canton as where the company is based.

Solothurn is not unfriendly, life is what YOU make of it

My sister in law lives in Solothurn and we visit a couple of times a month.

It is not too bad and the Gemeinde have been quite friendly to her and her husband.

Town centre is nice and a bit touristy - some dodgy people round the railway station, but this the norm these days in many swiss towns.

Lots of small villages within 15 minutes by train.

As for unfriendly? I find it much more congenial than Kanton Aargau - some nice bars down the river and a few good snack places with seekh kebabs and other ethnic food for ok prices.

Thinking of moving there myself - we have been in Switzerland for about 20 years, so this is not just a

Whim.

Solothurn kanton is quite big, there are many other places you could move to if you did not like the main drag.

Also 20 minutes by train to the KFC in Shoppyland near Bern.
