I just found this forum, and I think I'll be hanging here a lot for the next while, as I have decided to move to Switzerland (for a range of reasons that this thread is not about), Zurich preferably.
So to sum up myself; I am female, Swedish, in my 20's. I have a good combined BA and MA from a British university. I speak fluent high German (not 100% perfect just yet, but definitely fluent). I have three degree relevant internships from Germany and Austria of about 5 months each, with good references in: public administration, statistics and banking. Currently I am working in accounting. I started in February this year in the Netherlands. After a few months I moved to a random mediterranean country (Malta), as the company was relocating, and I decided to come along. Accounting is not for me, and I don't like living here, so I have already given my notice. Mid-December I will finish. Preferably, I'd like to start a new job in the beginning of February. I'd like to get in to the field of risk (credit- or political). So potential employers would be banks, insurance companies and very big multinational companies. I know a few Swiss and Swedish people in Zurich already.
I could crash at my friends' places and just give the job search all I have for a while? I could take a job in Austria/Germany and continue to apply from there? I could take a job in accounting if that is easier and continue to apply for something more suitable? I could take a completely unqualified job just to get in to the Swiss job market and just "be there"? I could take a job in risk in Sweden (would probably have a bigger chance there), whilst continuing to apply for a job like that in Switzerland? So many options! I have just started to look for a job, and obviously I am starting at the top of the wish list, which for me is risk related-graduate opportunities in Zurich. Haven't heard anything, yet but only sent out the first applications the other day.
So those of you with some experience of the Swiss job market; what would be the smartest way to go about this, given my, skills, my situation and what I am looking for?
