Working with concubine visa in Zurich

Hi all,

Does anyone know if a concubine visa in Zurich permits you to work? I emailed the migration office and they say your company still needs to apply for a work permit, but I’ve heard from a friend in a similar situation (unmarried partner with same citizenship as me) that for them, the concubine visa included the ability to work. And if it doesn’t include the allowance to work, does it make it easier in any way for your company to apply for a work permit for you?

I am non-EU with a university degree, company with an office in Zurich (but they were unable to go through with the non-EU work permit application as it required them to interview >50 people) and a Swiss partner

Only the migration office can decide this as there’s no set rule. Non-EU with non-EU partner would definitely not be able to work far as I know, but EU with non-EU partner seems to be sometimes yes for the non-EU, sometimes no. I would guess having a Swiss partner is the same maybe situation. Could also be that they’re tightening up on non-EU’s on concubine permits being able to work no matter what nationality their partners are.
