I work at a great job and my boss really likes me. I thought maybe I can add a reference letter during the apartment search, as well as explain the situation thoroughly and say I’ve learned my lesson and it won’t happen again. Maybe thinking of also looking at smaller companies or private persons, I heard they can sometimes be more lenient and communication a bit personal unlike companies like the one who starts with w or p that are not that organized and don’t have time for explanations. I have a Betreibung which the company said they’ll delete but it’s taking a while (around 7 months...so I’ve been pretty patient i think lol) due to a personal emergency I need to move soon. I’ve been quiet for about a month or two because it’s s huge company and I’m sure I’m not the first or last, but I sent another round last week to tell them that due to a personal emergency I would like to know if it can still get deleted or if it stays, just in general an update as soon as possible. I have still have time so I’ll wait and stay patient, but since it’s taking so long and building my anxiety up (I go to therapy for it no worries) im starting to think of plan b, in case they don’t delete or it just takes too long, what can I do to upper my chances of getting an apartment cause I’ve heard it can be hell lol
Having the support of our boss worked for us when getting an apartment.
Both times, they spoke with the agent/landlord directly at some point to give verbal reference.
So, it's probably a good idea.
And otherwise, if you can explain the betreibung in a non-confrontational way to a potential landlord, along with your credit report that should help.
Otherwise, the alternative is to find a share-house until you can sort out your references/credit check etc.
