Favorite brand is Rosamonte and distant second would probably be Cruz de Malta, but we'll take what we can get in a pinch. We generally prefer the Argentine brands over others, only because they're typically a coarser grind (too fine and the bombilla gets plugged.) Any suggestions appreciated...
Does anyone know of a shop in Lausanne or within 30-45 minutes drive/public transport that sells yerba mate tea leaves in at least 1/2 kilo bags?
Did you check the tea shop right on the ramp in the main train station? They have at least 50 kinds of loose leaf tea. Don't know if they have yours, tho.
The place in the train station you're thinking of is called Tekoe, they also have a store in town on Rue Centrale as well as a website, where I can see two different types of Mate tea:

There's also this shop in the centre of Lausanne, just down from the Bleu LeĢzard:

Hope you find what you're looking for!
Thank you both for the tips, though it looks to be a similar situation to the States... CHF 8 for 100g!
The health food/organic stores, bouTEAques, etc. sell it for as much as $14 per 100g. Then we go to a nearby Mexican grocery store and buy a 1kg bag of Rosamonte for $4.95. Any similar possibility? (In hindsight, should've mentioned my current approach to begin with...) 1kg lasts us ca. 1 month, so 80 CHF is a bit steep...
Ummm... my apologies. I assumed this would be so obscure that I posted, THEN searched.
Otherwise, I would've seen this by Salsa_Lover... Hello les Lausannois
I intend to check out both his suggestions.
