Lucky you! I never had a French Grandmère, but I absolutely adore Hermès scarves and accessories. I've been collecting for 20+ years and am almost never without a scarf. I bought my first one in 1990 at Hermès on 57th Street in NYC. It was Chevaux de Traits in pale pink. I still have it and it's as divine as ever.
Hermès used to have a link on its website called Playtime with your scarf, depicting various ways to tie/wear your scarves, but I can't find it there anymore.
But if you check out MaiTai's picture book*, she has loads of scarves and photographs how she accessorizes with them. She is amazing:
