Following on from hollisterb 's post about cooking for a date, I'm wondering what forum members had prepared for the first dinner-date for that person who is now their permanent partner (husband, wife, significant other)
I still recall what I prepared for Mrs TD (back when she was still Ms W)
Starter : Insalata Caprese (tomato, basil and buffalo mozzarella salad drizilled with a balsamic dressing)
Entrée : Grilled lamb chops, buttered new potatoes, minted peas
Pudding : English trifle
She must have found it (and me) acceptable as we are now together for over 20 years
Poor Mr. Meisie . When we first met I could not cook at all so I never cooked for him. Since moving here, I had to learn how to cook (lack of take away and good ready made foods) and it Has since became a passion of mine.
His favorite food is Indian (I'm sure he has Indian blood in him somewhere) and I love cooking different Indian dishes for him now.
As I recall, it was a Thanksgiving turkey (first (late) wife).
Current wife, we took a motorcycle trip to Calice Ligure, and all I brought to eat was 5kg of various chiles from the garden (mainly Habaneros and such).
I made homemade tomato soup, Filet Steak with Bearnaise sauce, then chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert - Little did I know at the time my now other half didn't like tomato soup (she never said a thing )
I cooked mousakka the first time my now fiance came over. It must have been good because that was on the third date and techically that is still going on
