Your recommendation for contents & liability provider

Hello everyone!

Thanks to all for the great advice on this forum-- I've used it to find comparis.ch in my search for contents (property) & liability insurance for once we move in to our rented apartment in Geneva.

The price quotes I'm getting are very comparable and reasonable, so I'm seeking feedback from the community on what insurance providers you have used and how the service and quality has been. I've searched the forum here and found some positive stories for AXA and Mobiliar, but wanted to check on some other providers as well and seek more up to date experiences from anyone that's used or recommended those two in the past.

Specifically, some of the providers we're looking at are Helvetia (future employer has relationship with them), AXA Winterthur, Die Mobiliar, Visana, or smile.direct (cheapest quote).

I'd be grateful to hear any first-hand recommendations for (or words of caution against) any of these providers.

Thanks all!

I’m a big Mobiliar fan but can also recommend Vaudoise.

When comparing the prices you need to deduct 5% of the Mobiliar price since they grant you 10% discount every 2nd year.

Both are co-operations and thus distribute their profit back to their clients who are also their owners. They enjoy excellent reputation of very good service and goodwill. Not typical attributes for an insurance company...

I work in the insurance industry, actually as a consultant for Switzerland largest insurance company, Swiss Life. So besides that I am a happy client of Mobiliar I handle these things on daily basis as a single point of contact for all insurances.. Negative experiences seem to concentrate to the big Italian insurer but I cannot say that all their clients would be unhappy either. However, when I hear a negative story then typically it relates to Generali.

It is recommendable to concentrate the insurances to one company as that way you can negotiate the prices down for all your insurances. This does not include the accident insurance that comes from your employer and you are not negotiating that contract. And of course not the health insurance since those are entirely different companies than the property and asset insurance companies. (Visana is a health insurance company and cannot provide asset insurance). But ask for an offer as a package for your car, liability, home, legal costs and travel insurance or whatever of those you consider is relevant for you.

Super-- thanks so much for this response, Tiiwa, just the sort of feedback I was seeking. Much appreciated.

smile-direct is the best in my opinion. This is the test winner in terms of prices and services ( http://www.smile-direct.ch/de-CH/Ueb...Auszeichnungen ) . This belongs to Helvetia Insurance Group.
