Ziploc bags?

I really hate to start another 'where can I find' peanut-butter-esque post here but I haven't been able to find Ziploc baggies anywhere (mind you, I've only looked in a couple of places so far). Am I just looking in the wrong place? If you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Ikea - 50 for around CHF 4.99.

Coop - 20 for around CHF 4.

Airports (near the security scanners) - free.

Spar has them too

coop, spar

Does it HAVE to be the Ziploc brand? If not, the bigger Migros will have them too - same section with the aluminium foils, cling film wraps etc.

Ziploc is sold under a different brand name in CH. You will see the other brand "Toppits" and in small letters Ziploc. Coop has them (not all sizes though). Look at the section/display with the aluminum foil, film wrap etc.

Click on the photo on this page to see what the packaging looks like.

And I can confirm that even the dreaded TSA (US airport security customer facilitator representatives) accept the Migros 1 litre Ziploc equivalents for displaying one's (or one's wife's) lipsticks, moisturisers and other gels & liquids as one 'breezes' through security.

The Migros at Claraplatz has them upstairs - not with the food. As mentioned above they are with trash bags, plastic wrap, etc...

Tangan brand is sold in Migros

Thanks for all the tips! Now I'm on a mission to find Tangan-baggies and/or Toppits-baggies.

Be careful. For instance Toppits does not necessarily mean Ziploc-like closure of the bag. Toppits is a brand name that covers all sorts of other plastic bags too. Don't just buy something that says Toppits on the box; look at what the pictures show.

Thanks for this thread.

I've been smuggling them in from home whenever I make the trip.

Be prepared for a bit of a price shock. When we moved back home here, I brought the balance of my ziploc sandwich bags with me I had purchased in bulk at Costco. What I bought here are bags made in Germany by Folio. I just can't recall where I bought them, Aldi or Lidl.

I also bought bags at Ikea, which are really reasonable. Someone posted above but here is the specific info. They are suitable for the freezer.

This a box of 30, for 3.95 two sizes, 6l, and 4.5 l

This is a box of 50, for 3.95 , two sizes 1.2l and 2.5l

I had trouble finding them though, finally had to ask someone.

Ikea, Marktkauf and also in the 1 euro store in the Rhein center in Weil am rhein. But I liked my Ikea buy best in terms of quality and size.

Wow, I've been here 10 years and never saw any zip-loc bags anywhere here. Interesting.

I read that quick and it looked like " Toptits " I think if they re-branded to that name they'd be more noticable in stores

True. Toppits (Ziploc) bags from Denner have the real zip function, and are far easier to use. There are many similar varieties which have that fiddly squeeze-two-lines-together seal. Rubbish.

UPDATE:

The Coop where I go (not the biggest) has the 3L and 1L sizes . The 1L size seems to have some old/new packaging in the photo below.

The Ziploc bags are on special this week at -30%

wow, I never thought of looking in Ikea for cheap ones.

I have been buying the Migros/Coop reincarnations; they work well. Not all the sophistication of "different colors to show it locks" or "slider" that ziploc advertizes with, but fine.

I miss some sizes - in particular the snack size, and the freezer-thick, gallon size (I still smuggle those in).

but shortly I'll just buy them at the local 7/11....

Reviving this thread...anyone know where I can find very large ziploc type bags? Looking for them for lego storage!

IKEA has a wide variety of Ziploc-type bags. They come in 2 types: 1.2L/2.5L or 4.5L/6L. Very helpful and VERY cheap. I think a box of 50 bags runs something like 3.50 CHF. I highly recommend them. They are just as durable at the "real" brand.

Well, I *just* saw that these bags were mentioned above, but oh well. I still would recommend them! They were found in the kitchen section near the baking supplies. I'm not sure if they are still there now that IKEA got a bit of a face-lift.
