ZKB closing my 3rd Pillar-- US Person

I just got a letter from ZKB saying that they will close my 3rd pillar because I'm a US person. It was okay for them 5 years ago when they let me open it, but now it's not okay. Jerks!

Anyway, from an investment perspective, I've since found a more efficient place to put my money, so I was going to cease payments soon, anyway. I only opened it back then because I really had no place to go.

However, I was under the impression that the money was locked in there until retirement, but they are instead requiring me to move it. Anyone in a similar situation? Insights into that specific issue?

It's not the bank's fault. It's our country.

UBS made me close my 3A Fund account a few years back so I transferred it to a local Sparkasse. However, still got a 3A Fund account at CS.

Today, knowing what I know, I wouldn't even bother with 3A due to the double taxation on US citizens.
