Most of the ATMs around here which are located in residential buildings have been closed due to the not insignificant number of them being blown up by thieves recently.
There has being a spate of robberies at ATMs close to the French border.
Sorry for the confusion, just joking about not using cash. I think I’ve been to a bancomat twice this year, and once was not in Switzerland. That’s why I joked with the cigarettes after midnight thread. I understand the craving for a cigarette on a party night. But…cash?
But, needs are quite subjective. What I don’t understand is the need to close the ATM in Zurich agglomeration. There are robbers exploding bancomats in Baselland and Jura, but Wiedikon? What’s the risk?
If I pay in Germany via Credit Card, there’s an extra charge.
Cash avoids that (for now).
I very rarely need to withdraw money - thus this change had escaped my attention. I usually do it while I’m at the office - but I was sick and then spent a week working from home and forgot about it.
Haha , ty for bringing up my topic :))
On topic : are you limited to withdrawing only from ZKB ? I am with UBS and initially they said I could withdraw from their ATM but I always use a Post Finance one which is closer and I don’t see any extra charges.
But overall, yeah, life after 00.00 kinda shuts down here , which is pretty sad … probably excepting Zuri West and Langstrasse
You mean you are stuck to YOUR Cantonal Bank? Not much point in an EC-card (or what ever they call it now - no improvement=change of name and they think they fool us with that) is there.
I’m with Raiffeisen. I can use any strangers Bancomat (an other lovely old name ) for free 12 times a year. As I don’t do it more often than that I have no idea about the charges.
And why now. I just heard on the news of 20 years ago, that they then caught a bunch who used to break into the the bancomat rooms and ripped them out.
Since I discovered these “news 20 years ago” I quiet enjoy them. So much one forgot. And other things cause a “that was that long ago?!”.
Yes. What I meant was that it takes the banks more than 20 years to get fed up. And all they come up with within all this time is closing them at nights.
