Zuri WC Zürich main station

I asked the guy in charge if he could change my 5 Frank coin into one Frank coins to use if needed at the Zuric WC. Many only take 1 Frank coins. I told him this and he was really pissed off (so to speak). An African guy. At first he said no but when he saw I was getting pretty angry he changed his mind and opened his cash drawer that was filled with a couple of hundred one Frank coins. I even thanked him and left.

An African guy - you had a chat about provenance and the guy told you he is South African and left after apartheid ended and he no longer had a privileged status?

1 pee for 1 frank? Does that include the drug-test?
Gosh, I remember 20Rappen …

A franc is cheap for the station, it’s 2chf in Bern station.

Last time I was in Zurich HB the WC required a card not a coin

One can also use a card I think. But many of the Zurich WC’s only take a 1 Frank coin. So if you have no 1 Frank with you then you are up shit creek. (Assuming the free toilet is occupied and its an emergency.)

And there they say, cash is unsanitary. Never thought about where these cards are used …

I think that was the case last time I was there too which was in July.

1:50 for the rather posh new loos at the railway station in Geneva and I’m sure the machine at the entrance only takes cards.
Apparently this often causes problems for people who don’t have bank cards or refuse to use them for whatever reason and the news-agents opposite now sell single-use cards you can buy instead of using a bank card.
These are so popular that the news-agents does a roaring trade and frequently run out. Seems people buy several at a time ‘just in case’!
