Zürich Airport Parking Pck up Arrivals 1 & 2: EXPENSIVE

Now, that I remember…there’s customs on arrivals, then an open area where people waits for arriving passengers. Outside this building there’s a street with the “expensive parking”. Just across this street there’s other buildings that happen to be not so expensive parkings. In total, the arriving passenger walks 400-500m from customs to the parking. The wait for an elevator is probably longer than the walk. Also, probably shorter than walking from customs to the underground train station.

I’m starting to think that the importance of the parking on the street is the convenience for the person driving, not the arriving passenger. No need to drive on a circular ramp to go up or down, and no need to leave the car to pick up the arriving passenger.

Departures used to be 10min free, but now went down to 5min. Thereafter 1 CHF/min. Problem with 5min is that just the distance with the traffic and the cars getting in/out of spots, you basically need 2 min to make the trip from one bar to the next, so if you don’t kick someone off the car, you’re pretty much guaranteed to pay a couple of CHF for dropping them off.

I always remember arrivals being around those prices, not so bad but if you’re waiting for long it can get a bit expensive.

I now almost always go to P1/P2, it’s only a couple of minutes extra and yes the elevator is the most infuriating part.

One time I left my car in a hurry trying to catch a flight at the last minute, and when I got back I didn’t remember on which floor I left it. Cue me going to 5, then base, then 6, then base, then 7, etc etc, only to finally find it at 4 as I was convinced somehow they stole it or it was taken away
