This is where taxis are, right? I had no idea you could park in there.
I use parking 2 or parking 3. I think it’s around 5 francs per hour or so. Walk is a bit longer, but it’s nothing compared to dragging luggage into train cars with 2-3 steps.
They should have a look at Geneva’s kiss and fly option. We use both for drop-off and pickups. It is surprisingly effective and costs nothing.
The “Kiss & Fly” area at Geneva Airport is a free drop-off zone located at the Departures level, very close to the terminal building. It allows drivers to quickly drop off passengers safely with pedestrian pathways to the terminal, but parking or waiting is not allowed here. It is meant only for a quick drop-off, just enough time for a goodbye kiss before the passenger enters the airport.
That’s disgusting behaviour towards clients. “we’re done with you, see how you get on yourself”.
All arriving passengers should just sit down and block everything for a week or so!
Actually arriving people should be taken better care of than departing ones. They often arrive somewhere for the first time, don’t know where to go and how to get there, not to mention not speaking the language=if they get picked up by someone they’re well taken care of.
Departing people can just be dropped off they got only one place to go anyway.
They’ve also removed all pedestrian access to Heathrow. So now, you MUST pay to get there, regardless of how. Public transport, car, taxi, etc - everything has a cost.
Being possibly on the spectrum, I have a ZRH Airport routine when I go to pick-up or drop off:
Drive to P2
Park on Level 7
There is almost always space and then I never forget where I parked. Never have to stress and overall still takes about the same time as parking on arrival or departures.
There are no hold-ups at a tram stop like delays due to bad weather, queues at customs, luggage that won’t fit in the car etc etc.
People waiting in cars for arriving passengers who are not there creates bottle-necks for the genuine fast pick ups.
The price of this very short-term parking is an incentive for people to park in the longer stay car park if they cannot guarantee they really are just stopping for a minute or so.
The solution to that problem is to offer off-site car waiting are within a reasonable distance for a low or no cost. And a pick-up area that is for immediate pick-up only.
