Zurich is by far the best Swiss city in terms of activities, full of nightlife, just have a look at ticketmaster etc, events, musicals, dj's, open airs etc
Not sure about week nights, but weekends are open past 3am I believe
I think although the weather might affect your mood, it can be optimistic to know that you live in a city where you can go out and see people having good time speaking, listening to music etc... instead of walking alone like a ghost
Do you know if you can find people going to bars at 8pm, 9pm or 10pm during week days ?
For sure, Zurich is full of expats, who seem to spend most of their money in the bars etc. If that's your thing then you will love it, apart from spending £8 a beer etc..........
The nightlife is very similar to other European cities, sacrificing higher prices but you get back lots more in return.............little crime, no fighting, great atmosphere etc etc
Many say there is too much going on for such a small city yet everything runs pretty smoothly.
Few places close down, but there have been some changes in image/creative direction and management in some clubs the last few years due to shifting interests in the market (a little less house music, more hip hop etc).
Some clubs run till early morning. Other places run till 2 am.
There is no overall rule and way of operating.
Look at tillate, usgang for events and names of clubs etc.
if you expect to find night life of Athens you better think twice before you come here!
i dont know your age but for party goers there is always something to do
the difference is that only a minority of people goes out in weekevenings and the city exept the very downtown is pretty dead
also another difference is that booze is expensive and measured so if you go out in a bar and have 3 drinks, you pay about 50sfc and its like having one in athens!
thats why people prefer to drink beers or to wonder around with beers as its cheaper
Zurich doesn't have a hyper nightlife...nowhere close to hyper. It's certainly the happening spot in Switzerland...but hardly happening compared to other places abroad.
Ok so there are not so many clubs with a reeeeeaaaallly good sound system, but you can find places for any kind of music you like and there is a lot of choice. I also havent found a clubbing night on Wednesday but there is a lot of people out in bars on Wednesday I am always surprised how busy it is! I have many Spanish friends who are ALWAYS out and I guess with a very similar attitude to the Greek
So that begs the question - where of comparable size has a significantly better, by whatever rational measure you wish, nightlife compared to Zürich? Please give specific examples and reasoning
Eta places where people specifically go to party eg Ibiza, Kavos etc don't count for obvious reasons.
If we want to talk about how good or bad the nightlife of Zurich is, it is only fair to compare it to cities of comparable size. At 365 000, Zurich is just a small town and, as small towns go, not a bad one.
Zürich is quite the only place for nightlife on hundreds of Km around
people from Baden, Glarus, Rapperswil, Aarau, Luzern, Basel and Liechenstein come regularly to Zürich for nightlife on weekdays.
on weekends there are some local partys around, but they still come to Zürich, because on their own words, Zürich is the best place to go out.
I am speaking about Latin nightlife BTW.
As many said, Zürich is the bussiest place for nightlife in Switzerland, but it is provincial and small compared to other european places, and costs 2 or 3 times more, for less in return.
You can find a lots of people there, you'll find the good, the bad and the ugly.
There is something for everyone, it depends on which ones you feel comfortable with.
i am pretty happy because the places are full of "secondas"
