Zurich: Decent Japanese restaurants?

I am also quite partial to this small sushi place in Zug:

I'm not impressed by Nooba, Yohji and such. Faux Japanese.

I haven't been to a lot of Japanese restaurants in Switzerland, as they tend to be overpriced for the quality they provide. I only go when the company foots the bill.

The one at the Renaissance Marriot is a much higher cut above the chain restaurants. Great for a business lunch or dinner. (Unfortunately, I don't recall the name.)

I have to say that Samurai gives me the west-coast Canada feel for Sushi that I crave... Albeit at Zurich fall-over prices. The quality and selection is great. The Samuri Sushi, the boat with a selection for 2 is divine.

Hi All!

Sorry to be resurrecting this old thread, but I've just returned from a holiday in Japan where I fell in love with Yakiniku—the Japanese meat grill.

Does anybody know of a restaurant, anywhere in Switzerland, which specialises in Yakiniku?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

I'd be interested to know of a Yaki Niku or Yaki Tori place in Zürich.

I believe Sala of Tokyo (Limmatstr. 29, 8005 Zürich) do Japanese style Grilling. However, I believe they are outrageously overpriced.

Alternatively, you can buy a Japanese grill and do it yourself at home. I believe the Nishi Japan shop (Schaffhauserstr.120, 8057 Zürich) sells them. Call them first, they are quite far from the city center.

Many thanks ElJeFe!

That's perfect. I'll check both suggestions out.

Chris

I've recently been to SAMURAI sushi in Zurich..pretty good i must say.

Bimi in Seefeld is realy good but difficult to know what you have ordered if you aren't so familiar with Japanese food. Also the service can be a bit hit and miss. Heard Ginger is good but V expensive.

Ho ho ho, suspect sales of kleenex increased at the local kiosk.

have a voucher for michelin star sushi Restaurant Hasenberg in Zurich to sell

face value 200, selling it for 40,-
