Hi all,
I have my car insurance will Zurich, expiring 30.06.21.
Last week, it sent me a bill for the renewal of the policy.
Coming from the UK, I'm used to the insurer sending a quote for the renewal first, not just billing it....
Anyone have an similar experience?
I'm assuming if I find a better quote, I can "ignore" their invoice and tell them to not renew the policy.
Thanks all, have a good day!
It will auto renew unless you hand in the plates.
Tom
Your assumption is wrong.
They MUST renew it if you don't take it off the road.
Tom
No you can ́t. If you did not cancel the policy in advance (probably 3 months, per 31.03.2021) it will be automatically extended for another year. Have a look at the T&C?
Yep. You'll have to actually cancel it in advance if you don't want it to renew.
This is the way most things work in Switzerland so check all your other stuff aswell.
I believe they can only auto-renew if the premium has stayed the same.
Sell your car, problem solved.
Tom
They can auto-renew even if the premium changes, but then you don't have to stick to the three month notice period.
Basically the same as health insurance - to ensure continued coverage, you have to tell them if you're moving provider.
Though a sale (including within the family) may trigger the need for an MFK inspection.
Or is that no longer the case?
