Zurich or Geneva for New Years Eve?

My sister is coming to visit at Christmas and we'll be visiting both Geneva and Zurich over the holidays so I was wondering which would be a better bet for New Years Eve?

Things we're into: old fashioned bars, beer, wine, good food, perhaps some fireworks, a little snow, a lot of craic...

Things we're not into: packed nightclubs, deafening music, drunken louts puking in the street/on us.

Apologies if this has been covered before, and I don't want to start/restart some French/German hostilities, but I've been to and enjoy both cities, so I was really looking for some personal opinions or insight about which you prefer and why.

Merci/Danke/Thanks!

I can only talk for Geneva, which is pretty quiet at NYE I am afraid. Most people are away or in the mountains. There are a few events but quite low profile. For a big firework you need to come in August.

New Years Eve in Zürich

These are the "events" going on in Geneva...quiet!

This is for smaller scale, more inclusive events last year, I suspect it will be similar this year and it will give you an idea:

There is of course NYE boat cruises on the lake http://www.lake-geneva-switzerland.com/all-lake-geneva-ferry-boats/new-years-eve-boat-cruises-on-lake-geneva/

I am a bit astonished. Geneva has a large and beautiful lake , lots of large Hotels, many beautiful and lively squares in the City and enough Money to finance Events

And the ARVE beats SIHL and SCHANZENGRABEN https://www.google.ch/search?q=arve+...FcLXFAod0mEEqw

Go to Chamonix. Everyone is partying, going bar to bar, drinking champagne in the streets, dressed up wearing crazy hats, etc. The fireworks at midnight are great.
