Zurich Stadt - Kreisbüro merger and abolishment

It looks like they have merged twelve kreisbüros into three central district offices. It seems they will not be using the term “kreisbüro” in the future.

You can find more information about this merger at the following link: https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/prd/de/…z/230314a.html

I’m uncertain about how this merger will impact naturalization applications, both current and future ones. Does anyone on this forum have more details regarding this merger and its implications on naturalization applications?

Anybody from Zurich here?

Why would it have an impact on naturalisation processes, apart from maybe changing the address of the nearest office?

The process is basically centralised by the city, the Kreis aren't like separate gemeinde where there could be complications.

I thought Kreisbüro was gemeinde and moving from one Kreibüro to another was essentially resetting the naturalization residency requirement (2 years in the same gemeinde), no?

No, the Kreis are just parts of Zurich and the Kreisbüro are just separate because doing it all in one place would be too much; I guess now so much is done online it makes sense to have less of them.

Zurich itself is the gemeinde: https://www.zh.ch/de/politik-staat/gemeinden.html

I’m not sure what difference it makes that it is called a Stadt - I think it’s just a name with no practical difference. I mean, if Opfikon, Kloten, Dübendorf and Dietikon can all be Stadt it looks like a vanity title not a practical thing.
