Zurich: Tennis, Anyone?

I'm looking for a tennis partner, or partners, to play in Zurich. I don't have a specific court in mind, but if you know of any, I'd be happy to pay and play...I'm intermediate, getting better...have a good return. Not particularly competitive, but immensely enjoy the sport, having picked it up this year after a many years' hiatus.

Hello Linnette,

I would absolutly love to have a game of tennis. I was playing quite a bit before I moved from london and now really miss it! Pretty intimediate too. I have just moved here, so not really up on where to play. I was advised by someone else on the englishforum that stusents at eth can use courts cheaply. Some of my girlfriends friends go there, i don't really know them too well but i'll see if they can sort anything out? Ill P.M you my number and you can give me a bell if you have any joy with courts too.

Sam

Hi Linnette

I was just looking for a tennis partner on the net and stumbled across your forum post. If you like to play in Zürich or in Basel, just send me a message to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) . Would love to hear from you.

Hello - I just moved to Zurich from the US and I'm looking for someone to hit and play w/. Are you interested in getting together this week to play ball?

if so, please send a note to [[email protected]](mailto😃[email protected])

Thank you

Dan

Also looking for a hitting partner or partners. Played tonight at my local indoor club, but just hit against the ball machine.

I'm in Wadenswil, willing to travel on this side of the lake to play.

Please respond, just moved here from the US and would like to play at least a couple of times a week in the evenings or on weekends when the family and I stay in town.

I'll hit for practice, play singles, doubles, mixed doubles, you name it. As long as I'm holding a racket, I'm not particular.

Josh

Err, people, that's all nice and cosy and everything but you might want to make use of the forum's built-in messaging capabilities (which include email and IM).

Leaving your email addresses in the open is just asking for a heap load more spam See http://www.englishforum.ch/support/announcements.html .

I am also looking for a partner. I've been taking a tennis course since April-May and i'm at the level between beginner and intermediate. In the moment I've got a place to play outdoor in Zurich (Zurichberg). Send me an e-mail or PM if you would like to play or know more.

I am also a beginner and I am willing to get some regular partners to practice together.

Let's setup a meeting somewhere ( at the Mythenquai Tennis Verband could be a good place ), there are even two practice walls ( free of charge , were we could hit some balls while getting to know each other, so we don't need to reserve and pay a tennis court for that) and discuss how can we do it.

I'd say this saturday could be ok ( as we would play football on sunday with other forum members so sunday is not that good ), the saturday will be sunny so we could meet maybe between 3pm - 5pm

The winter is near and then we would have to find an indoor place.

Hi guys,

It's great to hear that other people are interested in tennis in Zurich! I've recently moved over and have had a few lessons whilst over in the UK, and I'm really keen to play some more over here. I think Salsa Lover's idea of setting up a meeting somewhere is a good one - I've met a few people who seem quite interested in playing and seem to be at the beginner/intermediate level.

Cheers,

Mark

OK,

nobody showed iterest for last saturday and I am hoping it was because the time to answer was too short.

I'd setup a meeting for next week at the Mythenquai Tennis verband, so anyone interested on finding tennis partners could come and we can meet each other.

Hopefuly we will be many and so we could find suitable partners to play regularly.

As the summer season is ending ( Ends officially on 14th october, so we have 3 weeks ) It would not be so possible to play on open courts. After that there is the Lengg tennis anlage Bleulerstrasse 41, 8008 Zürich, where we could have indoor courts all year long.

I personally would be available to play on tuesdays and fridays evenings and on saturday/sunday at anytime.

Let's say at the Mythenquai tennis verband, Mythenquai 200, 8002 Zürich at 3pm on Saturday 30 ( or it could be on Tuesday 25 at 7pm) ?

Please post your ideas here and we would set up an event thread.

Not a beginner, but would still love to play.

Saturday at 3pm sounds fine, I'll clear it with the family calendar.

Could one of you call ahead and make sure the weather reserved is as nice as it was last weekend....???

Hi, Just joined the forum. Currently commuting to Zurich and lookign for a evening game of tennis during the week. Likely to get an expat posting to Zurich from January onwards.

Average club-player past 50, but enjoying the game, single or double...

Chris

Hi, I live in Zürich close to Stettbach and I'm looking for tennis partner between intermidiate and advanced to play in the evening during week or weekend singles/doubles. If anyone is interested please email me: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) . Really eager to start playing asap

Hi guys,

Back when this thread started, we played a game or two back in September when the weather was a bit better, but it kind of died out a bit after that, because no-one seemed particularly interested in playing.

In the meantime, I've been playing semi-frequently with some friends up near Egg, and I'd be keen to play some more (I'm beginner-intermediate) if anyone's interested. There's a list somewhere of all the clubs that have courts, so if we get enough people interested, we could start digging around to see what's out there...

Mark

Hi Mark,

It would be a great idea to get few people together and carry on with tennis. Let me know your availability and location of the sport club?

Jacek

I am also up for Tennis games, I am however a beginner.

We played a little on the summer, there were some people interested, specially MarcoPolo, but as the season ended the interest also...

Let's organise something then.

I'd be up for games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I think it would be good idea to try playing with various people to determine the level. I moved from South Africa from high altitude in Johannesburg 1600m above sea level and here it's about 400m which might make a difference to the game and also the courts are somehow different to concrete surfaces where I used to play on...
