Zurich to Prestwick Scotland?

Hi all,

Does anyone have a hint how to get to Prestwick airport? Looks like Ryanair is the main airline, I'm going on a intensive photo workshop and will have way too much hand luggage for their miserly limits.

Its looks like there are a few car transfer services from Glascow main airport, all about £50 each way - this looks to be the best option. Or what about a night train from London?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Other than Ryanair I don't think there are any others scheduled carriers that fly in to Prestwick.

Glasgow is easy to reach from Zürich via London or Amsterdam. For ease of connection you could try connecting in London City.

There is also a night train every night from London Euston to Glasgow leaving shortly before midnight and arriving just after 7am). Not sure how easy that would be with a lot of baggage though. The air alternative may be easier logistically. The link for the train is www.scotrail.co.uk

Prestwick is about 40 miles from Glasgow and you can get their either by bus/train or maybe, simpler, by pre-booking a fixed rate mini-cab.

Hello there, where actually is the course, as Snoopy posted Prestwick is actually quite a bit outside of Glasgow? But if it really is Prestwick you need to fly into then I think that Ryanair will be your only option. But you can always double check with a website like Skyscanner.

You could fly Easyjet from Geneva to Stanstead, or Basel to Gatwick, and then fly onto Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow, or fly with Ryanair from Stanstead to Prestwick.

You will need 2 or 3 bags and you will have to pay for these, but the alternatives are expensive or take several days!

Easy Jet fly Basel to Edinburgh (much nicer than Ryanair) and there is an express coach service to Prestwick airport for £16.00

As Grumpy Grapefruit said you can fly with Easyjet from Basel to Edinburgh and they also fly Geneva to Glasgow. Another option is BMI Regional who fly Zurich to Edinburgh (but are usually far more expensive). None of these flights are everyday though so it may be easier to fly to London and then up to Prestwick depending on what day you want to travel.

The coach from Edinburgh to Prestwick Airport does not pick up at Edinburgh Airport and only runs to connect with early flights at Prestwick.

If you can fly to Glasgow, get a bus or taxi from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street Station (about 10 mins away) and you can get the train to Prestwick from there. The train station at Prestwick is connected to the airport itself and there is a second station in the town itself. Trains run frequently.

Just to throw another suggestion in: fly easyjet from Basel to Manchester, and there's a direct train from Manchester Airport to Glasgow.

You can often get cheap advance tickets for both the flight and the train.
