ZVV BonusPass - Questions!

Hi all,

I'll shortly be internalising at my current job and one of the benefits will be the ability to buy a reduced price ZVV BonusPass. Does anyone else use this?

The concept seems to be buy the pass, and you can travel anywhere within the ZVV zone structure, any time of day etc etc.

I am somewhat confused as the literature has the usual price breakdown for 3 zones, 4 zones, 5 zones, all zones with increasing prices. Are they expecting you to be honest and say I live in e.g. Richterswil rather than just saying you live in city centre and using the pass to commute from further afield?

I live in Zone 110 at the moment, so not looking for a scam, just interested as I may move out of 110 in the future.

Thanks for any advice,

StirB

Yes, that seems to be the case in the AGB.

But they probably require your home address and maybe they post it there; also I guess you would have to get your company to also lie for you, which is some level of protection for them.

Maybe there are penalties in the company contract for falsifying this stuff.

Gotcha, thought it had to be something like that.

On the pass it will be stated in which zones the pass is valid. If you travel

outside the (Reduced price) zones you have paid for, you can be fined, as

much as if you had bought no ticket!

Be careful also with the extra fees at night time, the Bonus Pass probably

doesn't cover the late trains, you might need to buy a supplementary ticket

each time.

I think it's only all zones on offer, that what I have, at a reduced rate

That's what my employer offers too (pay for 2 zones and get whole of Kanton Zurich). Great deal. I have to fill out the form annually, send to HR who forward it to ZVV. A couple of weeks later I get my new shiny card, valid for one year. A couple of weeks later I get the bill.

So, I have complete confirmation from a work colleague.

SBB have your home address (or will ask for it if not). If you live in Hedingen, for example, then your commute involves Zones 110 (x2 zone), 154 and 155. You pay the 4 Zone tariff and receive a card that entitles you to use the whole network. If you live in the city, like ReidS, then you just need to pay 2 zones to use the whole network.

I guess there is the potential to lie about it, but since your employer is involved, it is probably unwise to attempt any scamming.

The ZVV BonusPass I have (also reduced rate from company) covers you for the whole of the Kanton Zürich, including Winterthur. I have one and it's pretty much all I need for daily life and most weekends.

Well of course. Same for the GA.

I have had the Bonuspass for years and maximised it's usage Only thing to note is that there is now a 5CHF Zuschlag for the boats on Lake Zurich (used to be included).

I didn't know about this BonusPass. I should pitch it to HR .

It says there should be minimum 5 subscription in a company. It should not be a problem. http://www.zvv.ch/bonuspass

BonusPass includes all zones in Kanton Zürich, I've had it for many years.

You still have to pay night and boat extras

Cheers

The idea is that the company subsidizes one half of the price and you pay the other half so it all comes down to whether the company is willing to pay or not

I checked with HR. She told that company already offer this but they don't subsidies it. It costs a lot more for the people who travel less than 4 zones. Almost double for the people living/working in Zurich city.
