Best steaks in Zurich?

Title says it all, thanks, Gregor

Well there is only one casino in Zurich and the stakes vary from table to table.

Ops, steaks

Err no. It really doesn't.

Lord, you don't make it easy. Butchers shop or restaurant? How do you like your steaks? What sort of price range or surroundings?

[fixed the title for you now].

Wooden ones.

[hammered through a vampire's heart]

Gosh, didn't think about all these things, just looking for a decent steak house

Goodmans

I could go for a nice juicy cut of prime rib with horseradish! Sorry that I can't contribute - but will follow

Churrasco Glockenstrasse 9, Zurich 8001, Switzerland Argentine steaks

Goodman's Steakhouse is fantastic and worth the price. Prime Steakhouse is priced very simarlarly but the ambience and quality of meat/food was sub par. Also, Lumiere is great for their steak frites entrecote Cafe de Paris. En geute!

The cuisine of CHURRASCO may not be genuine according to "experts" but is really excellent. A nice place I over the years often visited

I agree, it's Goodman Steakhouse and the ambience is great too.

I've heard Hiltl recommended.

Well, just to have it mentioned for those who do NOT know, HILTL is vegetarian, but for example in the Badi Mythenquai http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/zuerich/...story/27809812

closely co-operates with METZGEREI KELLER http://www.metzgerei-keller.ch/3_2_wurst.html

The top 3 steaks I've ever had, all in the US, were in restaurants that had German founders. But I have yet to find a decent steakhouse to that same level in Europe. Yeah, the French have their Cafe de Paris thing and all. But I think that sauce does a disservice to good beef. Such sauces are better suited for mediocre beef.

So I wonder if its is just a coincidence, or do Germans have a hidden talent for steak? Where did Peter Luger, Wolfgang Zwiener and Wolfgang Puck learn to do that to steak? Is there a steak Mecca in Germany?

Not sure if there is a "Best" class steak in CH. A good steak, for sure. But does it truly rank amongst the best?

Café de Paris actually is a Swiss thing (Geneva, conjured up in the 1930s, popularized in the early 1940s), and yes, it's mainly used on rib eye and sirloin steak )( entrecôte Café de Paris ), not on tenderloin or the like.

Argentina Restaurant in Winterthur, across from the Bahnhof. Very good.

My house.
