I have similar dilemma about my hiking Gore-tex. I have it for about 10 years, it’s perfectly good except the bottom stopper clip of the zipper went missing. I already thought about putting it into recycling bin, but seeing how shockingly costly are these things nowadays I’m considering fixing it ![]()
The real winners are the airlines transporting the imported fakes. Below the deck of every Swiss plane from China are loads of Ali Express packages.
They sell the Stopper clips at Ali and Temu !
My stainless steel kitchen sink now shines like new!
I have worn spectacles for around 30 years and I cannot read without them or watch television because I do not recognise people’s faces which is important in crime films and such.
I saw some socalled “autofocus” spectacles on AliExpress for both near and far.
For CHF5 I thought why not experiment.
Surprisingly they work and I can both read and also watch TV.
Of course the quality is not so good as my optician supplied spectacles but for emergency use or a reserve they are fine.
I imagine the lenses are made with a progressive range of optical properties from the bottom to the top and one automatically finds the point where you get the best result.
They come with a nice case which is worth the 5 francs alone
Progressive lenses can be very expensive.
Progressive lenses would be perfect, unfortunately I have double vision when looking down
