I have been admitted to a Master's program in Zurich and I will be here for the next two years. Recently I purchased fish from Aldi that costed me 26Fr/kg and chicken meat from Coop that costed me 11Fr/kg . That's the cheapest I could find in this expensive city, yet the price is too high for me. Please let me know if there is any other alternative in Zurich to buy fish or chicken at lower price.

Denner is the cheapest, look out for week and weekend deals on their website (or paper ads) and you can spend less. Same for coop and migros.
For example next week there is chicken for 6 fr/kg at coop. Use the freezer to stock up when it's convenient. Look at frozen products, they could be cheaper too.
I don't know which fish you want but chicken is dirt cheap if you buy smart.
My wife and her sister buy some cheap frozen fish from the asian supermarkets. Do not eat fish myself, the ones she gets looks ugly - but it is cheap.
There is a supermarket (Asia Store) next to Oerlikon Bahnhof and a place called Importas C+C not far from Altstetten that she used to use - but I am sure there are cheaper ones now.
You can ask for salmon heads in Migros - 4 chf - quite tasty - I am told. Quite a bit of meat on them.
If you get enough eyes, they will see you through the week
I get fish from a sri lankana place in altstetten (importas it's called). They have both fresh and frozen. Fresh mackarel is 11-15chf per kg if you buy the whole thing.
Barracura, red snapper, mullet, grouper and a few others are regulars there...
Aldi and Lidl often have stellar deals on produce. You just have to keep your eye out. Subscribe to aktionis.ch which collates all the weekly offers of all the supermarkets. Alternatively shop after 5pm when the staff are marking up with the 25 and 50% stickers.
We generally buy free range "Label Rouge" chickens at under 5 eu/kg in French Lidl or Aldi, sometimes otherlarger supermarkets if they're ob offer. Much better flavour too.
Doesn't help the OP, of course. As I understand it, most people living too far from borders tend over time to reduce their meat consumption, or else they just accept the stupidly high prices as Normal for Switzerland.
I can see from your profile that you are from bangladesh. I'm not sure if you are muslim; if you are then you should be aware that chicken and other meats are not halal in denner/migros/coop/aldi, etc. There are butchers that sell halal meat and you should buy it there. You will find several threads with links about this places in this forum.
what a silly post. why should muslims always eat halal food? actually, none of the muslims I know eats halal meat. they all shop in normal supermarkets.
Keeping animals in a humane way costs money. If you cannot afford meat that is produced with a minimum of regard for the animal while they are alive, then I suggest becoming vegetarian.
While we buy beef, veal, quail and duck in Italy, we don't buy (fresh) pork or chicken, not ground beef, as the price isn't much different, and the quality is often lower. Thus we, actually spend MORE in Italy, as we buy more expensive cuts.
Fish is much better and cheaper in Italy, except for when my wife's son brings us a freshly caught zander.
Our local Coop closes at eight, if I go at six there's always a bunch of stuff for 50% due to expire dates. Sales that normally are 50% discount than can be bought for half the price meaning you save 75%
Just check your local supermarkets and find their routines.
Because the ruling on fish is different from the one for other meats. There is no slaughtering or other special requirements for fish involved. For this reason fish can be bought from any shop.
1. chicken and pork are the cheapest meats in switzerland
2. go to denner and buy the megapacks of sausages chicken or whatever when they're discounted, then freeze
3. be at migros and coop when they fill up the fridge with the 50% stuff (usually because it's badly packed or they have to throw it away in the evening) and fight with the pensioners to get the decent parts, usually you can find plenty of whole fish at this fridge at my local migros.
4. eat cervelats, buy the megapacks in denner, this is the poor man's meat in switzerland
