CHF 650 per month car allowance

Hi all,

I am really new to Swiss. I feel like my company is offering me too low car allowance and salary. They offered me arround CHF 650 per month Net. I checked arround, and I feel like this is too low. What car can you get for 650 PM? What insuarance could cost?

Is 100K Net per year adequate for a managerial position, multinational co?

Thanks in advance!

And I am new to Switzerland

fixed that for you...

Hello and welcome to this forum. It would be nice to write an introduction, there is a special introduction area. People are more helpful if you do so.

When you look around a bit, you will find out that salaries have been discussed many times. Not a hundred, but more likely a thousand times. People by now expect you to read the available information first and then ask questions. Your question as it is makes no sense as we have too little information... "Manager" can mean pretty much anything today, my first job had "manager" in it. Industry, seniority (how many people do you lead?), educational background...

The car: You can lease pretty much any care for 650 a month, the question is how long the lease is. If we'd assume five years, you end up at some 39.000 CHF. If you take away all the interest rate you are in the territory of a medium spec VW Golf. So I assume that you are not a top level executive

Some side notes:

- In Switzerland, the tax level varies with the village you live in. Are you SURE that the 100k are NET? I don't think your HR can give you a NET befor they know where you will live...

- Company cars are rather unusual in Switzerland - the allowance will be completely added to your taxable income, so most people prefer to simply get cash instead and buy whatever car they want themselves...

His question is combined with a salary question as well!!

Brilliant.

go on autoscout and look at cars. in most cases the Lease amount per month is given in the ad. And yes 100k is enough

650 CHF is not much unless, as described earlier, you go for a long lease. Most leasing companies go for 3,5 - 4 years. I pay (well the company pays) some 900 CHF for my little Audi A3 (prefer smaller cars), though we have an agreement in our company that we can spend 1600 CHF per month on a car.

I got the message! I should have red more before asking.

Sry, guys, will go through the available info

...oh, nevermind...

Buy an early 90's Merc w124 ~10k CHF (should get you one with roughly 200K on the clock or a bit less), get a GE Money Bank loan for 3 years at around 350/month, use the rest for maintenance.

You won't do it, of course, but that would get you rolling in a serious car for little money.

Any further questions please post them in 10 words or less. Carry on.

LOL I really wonder where you people are leasing your cars from!! eg our Swift costs less then 300 chf per month, and our brand new cooper S loaded with a few toys costs less then 400 per month (swift is 4 years, mini is 3 years lease)

if your really paying 900 chf per month for an a3 then someone is seriously taking the pee out of your company.

Erm... may I guess that you did make a significant up-front payment?... Calculate that over your three years and you get the picture.

3k on the mini, so not really.

either the a3 has a really high KM limit, or they depreciate like rocks
