Chinese restaurants in Zurich

Sorry if this has been said before. My faverite Chinese restaurant is Zen in Adliswil. It is also in the Michelin guide and therefore not exactly cheap, but they do have the most amazing Peking duck and lots of other very good dishes and the portions are big.

The beauty of Chopsticks is that is just like the places my wife's Chinese family take us when we visit them.

Mind you that is in Vancouver?

Dim Sum in Switzerland? I don't believe it. Finally! Man, are times a-changing. Sutter, there is our place for a double date.

Yeah I have not had the Dim Sum there but I heard it was great and dim some

I've waited for YEARS for this to happen. Now I can stop trying to explain it to my Swiss friends and just take them there. I hope they do it right; on Sunday afternoons, with tea, carts rolling by and sh..t.

I'm certain this is bound to happen here, and I can hardly wait. If there are any Restaurateurs out there, listen up:

-A Hardcore Korean barbeque restaurant with grills at your table

-Class A Vietnamese Phô

-Authentic Tokyo-style Ramen

-Jamba Juice

tea carts are old school, those went out in Hong Kong about 10 years ago.

Is that an invite thanks, when, where, what time? Oh i am getting all excited i love chinese food

Yeah, but apparently some places are 10 or more years behind.

For fun, I like pointing at the food while making some strange vowel sound in Faux-Chinese. I don't speak a word of Chinese. When asked, I tell them it's a dialect from some region they've never been.

Yeah I'd like to see those too plus a real Tex-Mex or good Mexican restaurant - closest so far was Tres Amigos in Roggwil (close to St. Gallen), but spicy is still an insult to the adjective (due to teh fact that the Swiss are wimps when it comes to spicy)

For Korean, I go to the little Korean place Yumi Hana by the Bahnhostrasse tramstop (across from D-Vino) and order the Yukejang (sp?) which is absolutely satisfying.

you are making me hungry and I just had breakfast. It is sad the only place I have had authentic Korean BBQ in the last three years is in Cairo, can you believe that.

Let me know if anyone tried the dim sum, looks great on internet and was thinking of taking my mother-in-law there. sigh I miss Dim Sum

Yeah - I dunno if they do carts, but there is a good chance as Switzerland is WAY behind in some things - just think of the fact that women could not even vote until 1971...

I am close to St.Gallen, and the Stars, and Stripes also does mexican food very good, and in Austria is a VERY GOOD chinese restaurant, and cheap aswell, if anybody fancys meeting up one saturday we could make arrangements, and go together

I also go there often. I order the Yukejang there too, and ask them to make it as spicy as it should. Always brings a smile to the korean cook's face. I wish they made more dishes, but I suppose they don't have the capacity.

Dude, I recommend the roasted seasoned Nori. They come in packs of three. It can be snacked on like chips. It rocks!

I doubt carts are done here as it is very labor intensive.

I've kinda given up on mexican food here. I went to one here that was recommended. When I asked for chips and salsa, the chips were the seasoned kind from Coop, and the salsa was actually Marinara sauce. If they can get away with this, I give up!

Well like I said I haven't had it but my friend who recommended the place had it and says it is great and authentic.

We did have the peking duck, which consisted of a first course of very crispy duck skin served with soem yummy fresh stuff that you could roll in these awesome tortilla like very thin rice pan-cakes and dip in sauce - this alone basically filled me up - then they serve the duck meat in one of three styles as a second ... I am hungry just thinking of it...

Unfortunately they don't do the trollies like they used to in HK. But the food at Chopsticks is good and nearly as authentic as it gets. Takes me back to the days where we used to eat on the streets in HK for 5Bucks and get loads on the plate

Or the best way to have Dim Sum is to buy it at the Asiatische Lebenmittel : Lian Hua, I know there is one shop near Wiedikon Bahnhof, take the no. 9 or 14 tram. It is on the main road - Birmensdorferstrasse.

That is a specialty. I think those may have to be ordered 1 or 2 days in advance. At least that's how it was in popular restaurants in our Chinatowns.
