Chneble (ice hockey) schedule around Zürich

Hi everyone!

I just moved to Baden recently and am really missing ice hockey. I was wondering if there is a schedule of some sort for pick-up hockey (Chneble, is what you call it here I believe) for this coming winter.

I came upon a thread for this but it was a couple years old, is there any new rinks/ponds to play around the Zürich area? I know there is a rink in Wettingen which I'll be visitting lots, but they only have hockey on Saturday mornings.

Also, is there a good ice hockey equipment store? Preferably with reasonable prices.. . Just looking to pick up cheap stick/skates/gloves.

Cheers!

Chneble is pretty big here. Usually the place to go is Heuried, however it is closed this season for rink improvements.

Options include Dolder, Oerlikon and Urdorf in the area.

I have gone a few times to Dolder, but there was usually no set time, so it was random if you could find a pickup game.

Never been to Urdorf, but there was a general consensus that the regulars there are a bit of jerks, and there are no nets so goals are made with shoes.

Speaking with the other regulars, it seemed to be agreed that we would play at Oerlikon, but now looking at the website, I see that they have no chneble--the ice is reserved for club play since Heuried is closed.

I guess Dolder is the only option in Zurich.

Wetzikon has chneble all year round as well.

Thank you so much!! Exactly what I was looking for.

Dolder looks great, not TOO far of a commute from work. Looks like they let you rent hockey sticks for free too, which is a plus.

Will probably check it out when the season starts and pick up a season pass

Thalwil on Wednesdays from 8:30p.m to 10:00. It's coming soon, oh yeah!

Also on Sunday's from 12:00 to 3:00 I believe.

Where exactly is the rink in Thalwil? Close to the Bahnhof?

I've been counting down the days until the skating season! Though sorry, I'm one of those annoying figure skaters.

As a Canadian, any type/form of skating is fine with me

No. Very close to the Autobahn.

I'm just trying to cut down the transportation times, so trying to figure out which rink is close to a bahnhof.

cannut, unfortunately that won't be enough to satisfy my craving for hockey

The eisbahn in Wettingen says there is only ice hockey Saturday mornings, does anyone know if this is still true?

Dielsdorf:

Wädenswil (this one is next to the train station, but super small and Chneble thus limited)

nice to see hockey is alive and well during the winter months. this being my first full winter here i hope to make it out after work in zurich a few times... what would the closest place be in Basel (where i currently live)? i know Margarethen Park has 3 pads in the winter time so waiting for those to open but I'd definitely like to do shinny 2-3 times a week. Since i have a GA card i'm willing to travel for it. Used to travel up to an hour just to score some ice time when I lived in Canada

Seems like there is a few in the Basel area. Did you check out the site mentioned earlier? http://www.skating.ch/rinks/rinks_alphabet.htm

Back in Canada it was much easier for me since I drove - only took 15-20min to get to a nice outdoor rink. Will definitely miss the short commute!

A reminder that Dolder opens today with skating til 22:30 every day (17:45 Sundays).

Some have already started but open skating remains patchy and limited to a couple of hours in the middle of the day

By no means exhaustive, just the ones most convenient for me in case of use to anyone else...

Thanks Veltliner! Should be useful for others.

Should also mention it says on the Dolder site that this weekend is free entry for their opening weekend.

Will be there all weekend for some hockey hopefully

Come say hi if you see me on Saturday! I'm the tall Asian girl spinning and will probably be there with a stumbling German

Oerlikon also is reopening for a few days only to showcase their clubs, being 8 Nov (Hockey) and 3 Jan (figure skating)

I may come this weekend if I can figure out how to attach a hockey stick to a motorcycle easily.

We'll be there at 12noon tomorrow

Hockey sticks are apparently free of charge to rent

HM! That is good news, I wonder if they have anything big enough! Perhaps Sunday then I'll scoot over as tomorrow is filling up. Will you be there Sunday as well?
