I am trying to find laptop to TV connector but could not find one. Actually my tv is old LG and it does not have standard audio vedio input (white, red, yellow).
Could anyone tell me how to connect from my laptop to tv and where can I get the such connector.
If your TV doesn't have a composite video or SCART socket then you will also need a RF Modulator such as this one to feed in the signal via the aerial socket:
I must add, not only the S-video will work here, you can also use the vga cable if that is all your machine has, but you will require a special box to adapt into the TV's RCA jacks (R,W,Y).
I picked up a svhs to scart cable from digitec for 12 francs. Article number 109764. It seems to work ok for me at least but your tv needs to have a scart and your computer needs svhs and headphones out for this to work.
I have an older TV with only SCART inputs. I wanted to watch movies from my laptop so I grabbed an s-video to SCART adaptor. Picture was pretty crisp, but in black & white. Fiddled with the connection awhile, searched google, and eventually found that you actually need to buy another converter (s-video to composite) and plug that into your SCART adaptor (if the TV doesn't have a s-video input). I didn't believe it, but I got the 2nd adaptor and now everything works fine and is in color.
not sure if this affects anyone else in the forum, but I wanted to share just in case.
hi I got a new lcd(hdmi) from my room owner, and bought a vga cable to connect my laptop to the tv, but I do not know whats going wrong as I can not see anything except the blue screen , I think I need to change some setting in menu, I stored my tv (programme) at hdmi mode, but thats not working, sorry it may be a silli question but have a very poor knowledge in technology. Please help.
When you write "Blue Screen", do you mean the Blue Screen with a white Error message, or do you mean the blue windows background color ?
I assume it is the background color you mean. In that case, rightclick anywhere on your desktop, select properties, settings, and there you can choose if you want the same display on both screens, and change settings for the primary and secondary display.

Good luck.
Thanks Doctor for your time for explaining me all these, but it is not working....
i think i should now stop expecting to watch movies etc from my pc to tv.thanks anyways.. but worring for the 36 franks which I spent to buy this vga cable
with this info, we can see what you need. It seems to me a VGA is not suitable from your notebook to a TV, you may need an s-video or cinch or rca jacks and 1/8th audio cable.
I have a Mac note book with a mini display port. To connect to the LCD, I bought a mini dp to HDMI connector from monoprice.com and it works briliantly. No need for Apple branded product
hey Nirmala, I followed the instructions(following instruction)
step 1
Fire up that PC.
Step 2
Click on the Start Button (the little window icon in the bottom left hand corner).
Step 3
Find and select the Control Panel option, it should be somewhere in plain sight.
Step 4
The Control Panel should open in a new window with numerous options available; you want to select Appearance and Personalization.
Step 5
Next you need to locate the Display Settings option and click on that.
Step 6
Once the Display Settings have opened select the Advanced Settings tab or button. Don't be afraid of the word Advanced. We are simply going to have a look around for some information and then close the windows down again. We can't do any harm while finding the type of graphics card is on the PC.
Step 7
Once in the Advanced Settings you need to click on Adapter to find the type of graphics card you have in Windows
Step 8
When the window opens for Adapter, you will be able to find out what kind of graphics card your PC has and all sorts of other information.
Step 9
Write down the information for your graphics card on your PC. Keep it in a handy place to know what programs will be compatible with your graphics card.
Step 10
Once you have all the information you need, simply close those windows and we are done.
