connecting laptop to TV

[quote=PC_Advisor;594344]well since it seems impossible to locate that exact model TV, can you take a picture of the input areas for cabling, side, back, bottom etc?

I should be able to get it that way.[/quote

oh sorry, the model is (Techline )- TL-26LC783

Specs in enclosed image.

Hi, PC_Advisor, still waiting for your help.

I went to the shop from where I took the cable , and asked them for help but they did not take much interest.

thanks.

from the information supplied, an S-video cable will help - you will also need an S-video to Scart adaptor (bi-directional or S-video -> scart).

You will then be able to use the TV as a display - but you might find that your output resolution is not fantastic (maybe only 800x600).

This is what the adapter looks like.

My bro made us a cable for laptop (toshiba) to TV screening.

We couldn't figure it out for ages until we noticed the blue switch symbol you use with FN button. It's the tiny LCD/PC switch I think.

We still have to run audio cable separately though.

It is probably a prehistorical way to do it but it works. Got us hooked on Madmen. Madmen marathons, aaaaah.

Once youve connected the computer to the LCD I am assuming you are using a HDMI cable, then make sure the LCD channel input is set to receive your computers signal (ie select channel/input to HDMI1-2 or something similar). Now make sure your computer is outputing to the LCD. This can be easy or hard.

Easy - find the function button above the 1 to 0 keys that has a picture that corresponds to a tv inside a box or something like [l0l] seriously, mine is f4. Then depending on your computer keyboard layout you probably need to press the aforementioned function button and the "fn" button at the same time. If this works then first press will switch over the signal from the computer to the LCD (patience it might take 2 seconds or so), second press and it will activate both LCD and computer and third press return to your computer display.

Hard - you need to do the switch using Nvidia or someother resident video software.... too difficult to describe here.

Good luck.

Can you post a picture of your TV connections? That would do the job for me to know what you need.

TV in needs to be either in order of preference HDMI, Scart or Composite (Y, Pb, Pr). Your pictures do not show a S-video connection but it might be on the side of the tv. Doesnt matter anyway as this output has the crappest quality and is not recommended.

Laptop out is either VGA or S-video. Assume you dont want to use the S-video (as it is bad qulaity) you need to use the VGA.

Possible solution, buy a VGA monitor connector, an adaptor/box that takes VGA IN and OUTPUTs to either HDMI, composite or Scart.

Then you need to switch your laptop over to an external source as has already been described by myself in an earlier post or other posts as well. Obviously the TV source is switched to either HDMI, composite or scart.

Good luck.

My pc has VGA and I have bought a vga_hdmi wire as the tv has hdmi.

or something like this,

http://www.amazon.com/12ftVGA-compon...ef=pd_sim_e_16

which connects your laptop VGA out to the Composite In on the TV.

Go into mediamarkt show them the pictures of your TV and they will help you find an adaptor/plug etc.

sounds like that should work for the picture, although you will have to do a separate cable for sound.

You will probably need something with a 'small head phone' type connector for your laptop and 2 (right and left) rca for the back of your tv (bottom centre rightish)

The vga - hdmi solution wont work. sound does not come through the vga connector.

You need the scart connector shown above along with the s-video in AND an audio 3.5 mm jack (output on your pc) with rca connectors for the audio input on your TV.

Ok what I think is happening is that your VGA-HDMI cable does not work in the direction VGA-HDMI only in the direction HDMI-VGA as like this cable states

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-VGA-HD15-.../dp/B001OLCHJ6

If that is the case and youve tried everything else, I'd suggest you return the cable, and go for laptop VGA Out to component In for the Tv.

I think I have the same one.

The shopkeeper is not taking it back as according to him this is only wire I required for my TV, have uploaded the pics of the cable/wire..

With that cable, it looks like your trying to convert vga to dvi to HDMI. That is not the solution.
