Well I won't recommend Uncle Betrand's advice for you cause I am yet to find any man who's so good with ladies that he can charm any lady on this Earth. The approach DB suggested was used by him to charm a certain French lady by the name of Carla or Clara(am bad with names; last heard she married a politician as Uncle Betrand was no longer interested in her)

So here is some advice for you:: Buy some fresh flowers for your date(No Red Roses, looks cliched & desperate). Greet her & kiss her on the cheeks. Take her to a nice restaurant of your choice(avoid French Restaurant & pick something novel). Be a Gentleman & don't let her pay. Be yourself & enjoy your time with her. Don't have any pre-conceived ideas about where you would end up. Just go with the flow. Once you are back at home, start a new thread about 'Dating French Women--My Experiences'.

For some women's advice: I agree with coolcd's suggestions apart from the flowers... it very much depends on your friend's personality. I wouldn't take the risk.

Just go for la bise (cheek kisses), that's a must in France! And in some departements they also do 3 or even 4. Maybe you can ask her how many they do where she is from, could be a good start ;-)

Take that woman to the cinema on a Sunday afternoon, hide some nice little yummy things to eat in your pockets which you can feed her during the movie.

Or take your car or hers and go for a 2-3 hours drive through a lovely landscape scenery, stop in different places, eat, walk, talk have fun.

Do something natural, easy going, throw a kiss at her cheek, touch her arm, let things develop. no stress. no expectations and let the woman take some initiatives as well. I mean at that age I hope she's got some nice surprises in store for you too !!!
