Ahh very cool... this would really shake things up if they came here to Zurich. I would imagine they would go somewhere large and industrial like Spreitenbach, but if they manage to be more central then all good!
Will be interesting to see what Swiss pricing is like vs UK and EU, too.
I quickly looked at some scuba and climbing gear, comparing against the Italian site (you can see prices online).... and while the range is smaller, prices are pretty much comparable.
We got something in Neuchâtel before the rest of Switzerland for once, that's a bit of a novelty.
It's been open for just over a month now and every time I've been to the centre it's been busy. It's been difficult to get into the Marin centre on Saturdays since it opened. I don't think the Migros sports XXL shop two stores away will be very happy.
The prices are pretty much the same as France when you take the exchange rate into account so it's not worth going all the way to Pontarlier any more.
I also visited a couple of times, I was impressed with the prices, comparable with nearby Pontarlier (France) on most things.
It has indeed been quite busy.. I thought that the Migros sports shops would suffer but Migros must have agreed to Decathlon being there as they own the whole centre I think?
Also Decathlon don't sell much premium stuff so for brands.. the other shops are still better.
Decathlon.ch actually has been selling and delivering in Switzerland for over a year already. But physical stores are very welcome to try out things, of course.
I just popped into Athleticum in Dietikon (Silbern) and they are comprehensively demolishing the store fittings. They don't have the normal range any more, which is annoying since I couldn't get what I wanted. They do have a huge amount of reduced stuff (but don't get too excited, most of it is not massively reduced).
According to the news, all Athleticum stores will/may (depending on who you believe) be converted to Decathlon. The first store (in Geneva) has already been rebranded. I wonder if Dietikon is soon?
It seems unclear whether it's a cooperation or a purchase, and whether there might be a decathlon counter within Athleticum stores or a complete rebrand.
Yeah, they've taken over the Athleticum store in Meyrin (next to MediaMarkt). I visited at the weekend - quite busy - but a lot of staff around to help. Struck me as less pleasant than Athleticum - stack 'em high racks, but possibly much more stock. Quecha brand features a lot.
Just noticed last weekend that there's another new Decathlon in Collombey, VS (just outside Monthey). I had been aware that one of the pre-existing Athleticums at Conthey was going to change to Decathlon, but didn't realise we were getting one even closer.
Also one in Basel, it seems, and a few others mentioned in their website .
Compared with the Mulhouse shop we've used a lot before, this new one is not huge, but it's not small either, in a Swiss context. Going to be quite a game changer for us and many other people, I'm sure.
