Just wanted to make you aware of Dextra Legal Insurance and some of their practices so it does not take you by surprise.
Back in November 21 I got their services for like 550 CHF with almost all options maxed out.
Up to today I used their services to consult and opened 5 cases. None of them went to court or required of them more than an exchange of messages. You could say I was making use of the Conseil + part
Well, to my surprise they sent me a letter that they won't renew my insurance because I used it extensively.
I only use our legal insurance for really big stuff. When I have a fight with a vendor or so, I fight my own fight. Average cases is less than once a year and I also keep all my insurances together (home and liability, legal, home personnel, life etc) so that overall I am a more attractive client to them.
5 cases in less than 12 months seems like a lot - did you have bad luck or what?
1st one was a question about the reggie wanting to pick up the trollies around the building and charging all the tenants regarding if they did something. Just message exchange.
2nd was a question about salary retention as my employer wanted to charge me something, just message exchange. No court
3rd one was about a dispute with the Health subsidy they never replied
4th one was about a claim to an airline because of delays. just message exchange
5th one about a claim with the house insurance. just message exchange
Might be expensive for them but then again, what was I supposed to do, not use the service?
Because one procedure can easily cost more than that so from a risk perspective you are a loss to them because of the 5 cases ongoing. And if it was only one case, this probably would not have happened, but 5??
You have them because you legally need to (like driving a car around), or to cover yourself from potential liabilities that you could not yourself cover (e.g. my house caught fire and is in ruins and I cannot afford such a loss).
People at some point will realise that, and then premiums will be better for EVERYONE and it will be a utopia.
Why do you use your insurance for something that often can easily be solved by yourself? As Kri said, I use it only for the big "fights", not the common stuff.
You are making a nuisance of yourself, the pricing model used by the insurance company assume you are an adult capable of managing their own affairs for the most part and only need the insurance to cover the rare occasion when you are not. You clearly don't meet their expectations so they have cut you loose.
If you had five car crashes in the period they'd have cut you loose as well. That is how these things work.
Really, well I hope the sun keeps shining for you....
But here most people have it as a safety net to cover serious situations. If you find yourself in a serious situation without insurance you will be disadvantaged because the other party very likely will and they will be able to afford a legal defense while you may not.
