I had a professor at university who tried to teach us that man did not land on the moon and it was all done with a diorama. Of course, that was the same semester that another professor taught us that aliens came down from space and mated with the ancient egyptians and that is why their heads were elongated. Interesting place, I transferred out after that semester to a better university

There are so many conspiracy theories out there that some people will never be convinced either way.

My theory is that the moon landing did take place but some of the film was a set up to add dramatic effect.

I recently heard that there is still discussion as to what Neil Armstrong actually said. Some people were claiming that he said "One small step for a man. One giant leap for mankind" but the 'a' was lost due to radio interference.

They still use these today... (and I believe have used these to calculate that the average distance the moon is away from earth is increasing by 4cm per year)

Why should the idea be so fantastical that we have landed on the moon?

Combination of knowledge and determination can achieve a lot. Some of the smartest guys on the planet working on the project.... then combine that with the laws of physics and throw in more than a dash of good piloting. why not?

Why should it require such a leap of faith over the idea of flying around the world on a jumbo jet?

Increase the thrust and make the machine appropriate to leave the atmosphere. Do people who think the moon landings are faked think that the satellites which make their cell phones and sat navs function are fake too?

If not, then they accept that satellites are orbiting us. One step further is to assume that if we can put a satellite in orbit, we can put a man in orbit. One step further than that is that if we can put a man in orbit, we can figure out how to make him leave that orbit and travel to a (relatively speaking) nearby object and assume orbit around that.

If one can believe that, then its surely no great stretch to believe that, given the prior assumptions must include getting a man from earth orbit back to the ground, it can be figured out how to get a man from moon orbit to the moons surface.

And finally, once one can stretch their imagination that far, the entire return trip must logically become possible too.

hear hear! Well said. My personal opinion of those that claim it was all a fake put up job is that they live on a different planet.

As the whole world was watching and listening, including radio telescopes etc etc do all you doubters not think russia, china, japan etc would not have realised the radio signals where not comming from the moon and spilled the beans.

Russia for one would have loved to be able to call the yanks big fat liars!!
