Don't use The English Grocer

I placed an order with them that should have been delivered a week ago. I heard nothing and contacted them and they said it would be delivered this week. Still nothing! Getting suspicious, I looked them up on Trust Pilot and the reviews are not good. Feeling a bit stupid for not seeing these before ordering.

Now trying to get a refund or place a charge back request with credit card, but limited time to do this. Gutted

I came here expecting a lecture on apostrophes…

Good luck with getting the refund.

I was about to say careful with defamation laws.

But…the business doesn’t even exist in the Swiss business register. So, it’s like slandering a ghost. Not much to complain.

PS, this is the Swiss business register. If a business is not there, well…fill in the dots

Dreadful.
I used them once a few years ago and vowed never to use them again, he was operating using the Jim’s name back then.
I’m surprised he’s still going to be honest.

They get absolutely battered on TrustPilot.

They have till Monday to refund or deliver, or I’m sending the claim to my credit card company.

They are basically a drop-shipper with a fortnightly delivery from the UK.

Probably not a good business model for perishable foodstuffs.

I’m off to the UK tomorrow for a week. I could possibly try and get you what you need.

That’s very kind, thank you, but there is nothing I can’t do without. More just annoyed to possibly have lost the money.

I doubt you will out of pocket. My one, and only, dealing with them resulted in a four week delay in delivery.

I prefer Jims, the real one. https://jims.ch/

I believe he used to work at Jim’s over in France and there was some kind of kerfuffle surrounding the name when the shop in France closed.

Jim’s son certainly made a big announcement on FB distancing themselves from that site and it was soon after that that the name changed.

britshop.ch is good as well.

I do look on the range of goods in stock with some bemusement - it’s like going back in time to the UK in the 1970s.

Still, it can’t be all bad - Britshop sells over ten types of “brown” sugar!

I don’t think he deals in perishable stuff anymore, that’s probably why.

Used them once, I think about four years ago when the company was still pretending to be the french delivery branch of Jim’s and that he was linked to/delivering from the main Jim’s.

The order was eventually delivered two weeks late, half of it was missing and all the frozen stuff had defrosted.
Despite several telephone conversations, during which the owner promised an immediate credit card refund for the missing items that never materialised and all subsequent requests for an explanation and the money owed have simply been ignored.
Yet I’m constantly getting emails telling me how wonderful their service is, and why don’t I place a new order… I won’t be disappointed.

Impossible to block the email address, even the spam filter lets the garbage through.

I placed an order on May 22, 2024 (order #2748) and I’m still waiting for delivery!! despite several emails and phone calls to request a refund each time I was assured that delivery was imminent.
And now they are not even answering the phone.
I was charged 160 CHF for my order
My advice to avoid this company is nothing less than a scam!

Welcome to the forum, Muriel.

One of the negative reviews on TrustPilot says this:

“Refund received within 2 hours of threatening with complaint to FCAB.”

They are capitalist pigs.

If you paid by credit card, you can call them to issue a chargeback to the seller. This way you get your money back directly. This also costs the seller money, so acts as a disincentive for them.
